  1. There is a bug in the latest 4.7.3.X version. I haven’t been able to test 4.7.4.

One person locked and unpinned a topic and their user name was shown in the topic as expected as doing so.

I came by and reversed the locking action and now the topic says that I am the one who both unpinned/locked the topic and then subsequently unlocked it, replacing the previous persons name.

    🤣

I’m thinking he might have made a plugin to achieve this. It might be worth pinging him if interested. 🙂

    Super weird.

I'm discussing the search results here. IPS says it can't be done. It looks like it is done here. I'm still waiting for a reply that address this.

I might have something to help you:

Could contain: File, Text, Page, Webpage

    How does this help?

    Hi,

no unfortunately ElasticSearch will also not help here.

It still doesn't explain how an archived item appeared in your search.

Keep in mind that Archived topics are not available in our internal search but are available in external searches, i.e. Google. Is that where you found this topic, in our internal search?

    Yes.

Search Everywhere >> Archive Search >> select Archive and Search

    About 20+ entries down.

    Does Elastic Search help matters?

  5. I have been looking for a solution that will allow me to archive topics (We have like 9M posts), but also allow searching (I use ElasticSearch). Everything I read says I can't. But I just read this:

It came up in search, but it also says it is archived. So, is this possible? A searchable archive with ElasticSearch?

    • The author must match the following filters

This seems like a bad choice of words. There are two authors. One who wrote the question;e post. One who wrote the report?

    Who is the "author"?

This is be changed to something clearer. I THINK this is the author of the report.

Believe we're getting a lot of crossing here. We established that Win 11 and Chrome works here on our community but you mentioned that your user is having issues. Let's please have them test in our test posting section.

If it works for your user here, then this would be something on your server, as my colleague mentioned, that either GD or Imagemagick is causing an issue for you. As it does not appear to be something with the software itself or you would also be having issues here performing the same function.

Let's just ignore MacOS for the time being.

He says the forum doesn't give him permission to post in this topic.

Just to confirm that we're comparing apples to apples here. Are you seeing this work on your Windows PC on your community? Just want to ensure that if you're only seeing it here, that we also have your user test here as well.

    Summary:

    1. One year ago, I received a complaint that animated gifs could no longer be copied/pasted after an IPB update. He did this all the time. After the update it hasn't worked since.
    2. 12 months later... Same user reminds me that it still doesn't work in my community.
      1. Doesn't work for Chrome on Win 8.1 nor Chrome 104.0.5112.81 Win 10 pro.
    3. Works for me in my community on iOS 15.6.1
    4. Does not work for me in my community nor yours MacOS Big Sur 11.2.3 Safari or Chrome (latest version)
    5. Win 10 latest chrome/firefox DOES work for your community. Neither works for my community.

I am using imagemagic and the extension is installed on my server per phpinfo.

I am running Windows 10 and Chrome. Both on the latest release? I know sometimes work machines can be a bit slow to release updates to their users till they've tested them.

    104.0.5112.81

I have that release too. Works for me. Does not for him.

And as I said earlier, does not work for me on MacOS, but does on iOS.

Might be a good idea to understand the source location too - if it's a straightforward GIF file in an IMG tag on a webpage, great.

But if it's a GIF file hosted on a site that doesn't like people copying the actual file, then they may have the GIF displaying in a pseudo way...split into separate frames, then animated using script. Right-click that and copy, you'll get a single frame image.

    I posted my source above.

  11. One of my users has reported for the last year that they used to be able to just right click on an animated GIF, paste it into a post in a just worked. Since some upgrade I did last year, I don’t remember which version, that ability to do that on a PC in chrome does not work. It did not work in Safari or chrome on my Mac. However, I could do it from my iPhone.

Can anyone explain why I can’t copy/paste animated gifs on a desktop, but I can on a phone?

Im not sure where the bar is low there. We cannot recommend outdated data is mixed with new data, and as we have not tested as much, we cannot advise for certain on the consequences of doing so. Of course login logs would not be correct as thats what one of the tables stores, and the system would not know some users have posted in some topics.

So, if I can extract something out of this:

core_members_logins: just maintains a running list of when people log in. Latest login shows up in profile and Admin shows a list.
Me: That seems like missing data there has a really low impact. Sounds just informational and does not have critical data for functionality.

core_item_member_map: Records who posts in a topic. Anything else?
Me: another informational table. Sounds just informational and does not have critical data for functionality, but less clear on when this is used.

These hold data relating to logins and data mapping what items a user has posted in. We cannot really recommend mixing and matching data from different points in time

Not recommending is a pretty low bar.

Can you give me an example of the consequences? What would happen if these specific tables were off by a couple days? I'm just looking for something tangible here.

  14. Ok, I got rid of all the errors by either issuing ALTER TABLE zzz ENIGINE = InnoDB or by replacing those tables with a copy from a few days ago. CHECK TABLE shows no more corruption and site loads fine. Will have issues if I loaded these slightly older tables:

    core_item_member_map
    core_members_logins

??? What type of data do they hold?
