  1. Well, as long as you're NOT using Zend then you can try PECL:APC for caching to see how it performs under your setup.
  2. Jura, may I please have some of whatever you're smoking?
  3. No, it is not finished yet. With luck, it will be released this week.
  4. Personally, I'd recommend CentOS (latest Stable release), Apache 2.2, PHP 5.2.9, Mod suPHP (for security, and ease of keeping permissions straight), IonCube Loader for PHP, Mod Security (modsec), and MySQL 5.0.77-Community. Enable other options as you see fit, during install. That's what's installed on my dedi, along with WHM/cPanel/Fantastico for administering the Domains on it, and it's been great so far.
  5. Personally, I think comparing IPS' prohibition about discussing competing hosts, to discussing any competing software products like a CMS, is like comparing apples and oranges. Two very different things. True, IPS cannot compete against the largest hosts for simple bandwidth and storage space. But then they don't *try* to. And those other hosts don't offer an IPB license (WITH installation and Support specific to it) as a component of their hosting packages, whereas IPS does.

EDIT: Sorry, what I reported about blank saves isn't doing it now. Weird.

That tutorial at invisionpower is flawed somehow. Likely just outdated. I made the edits suggested, (and yes I've checked them. Twice.) and now the forum looks like the lo-fi skin. With luck I can undo it. Then I'm going to use the one bfarber linked to here on invision. Hope that works better.....
  8. Cool, I can wait. I'd rather it be done right, than quickly.
  9. Someone asked a page ago, so I'll repeat it because I'm curious, too. Is the Subscription Manager included in Board? I thought someone, Matt prehaps, said it would be a separate App, but I didn't see anything in the Client Area. Guess I'll answer this for myself in about a half-hour, after I install it, but thought others might wish to know ahead of time too. Oh, P.S. to IPS: Silent release, eh? Ya sly bastids. ;)
  10. No, I meant 2-step using only the available "buttons", rather than a query window. Either way, I'm going to test that.
  11. That's interesting..... 2-step DROP? Thank you. I'll have to go test that.
  12. AndyF, I know it's splitting hairs, but DROP != DELETE. He already dropped all tables, resulting in an empty database. But inside phpMYAdmin there's no option that I can find to actually *delete* the database, which is what he originally wanted to do. In my case, I have to use the cPanel -> MySQL Databases menu to delete a database, even as the root user. (Caveat: Like I said, I may have missed a setting in phpMyAdmin, but I don't think so.)
  13. Ah, OK. When I called Support once, outside of business hours, I didn't go "far enough" into the phone system to hear the message, apparently. Again, good to know. :)
  14. You don't happen to have Zend running as well, do you? Because if so, APC has known problems with it. The two just don't play well together. (And on the off-chance you're running APC just to get a progress bar in downloads, PECL:UploadProgress went stable recently. I'd use that instead. I installed it, though 3.0 won't use it. But 2.3.6 does, and very well.)
  15. I don't think you can delete the database within phpMyAdmin, but I'm not 100% sure. On my dedi, even the root user doesn't have the option. I might have missed a config setting when I set it all up, but I don't think so. Either way, perhaps the simplest thing would be to open a support ticket with your host, and have *them* delete the database.
  16. And the definition of "not an emergency" being within the sole purview of IPS, I would imagine? Kidding aside, I didn't know that. I thought it was billable, period. Thanks for clarifying.
  17. When you called and pressed the button for the Support Department, weren't you given an option for emergency (BILLABLE) support? Maybe with a phone number? That used to be true.
  18. If you have to actually *delete* it, this won't work. But if all you want to do is effectively kill it and remove the data from within, for security reasons: Go into phpMyAdmin, select the database, select all the tables and use the DROP command.
  19. True, a "Seller" cannot do a chargeback since they *received* the money. But there's nothing to prevent the Seller from selling the license numerous times, and absconding with the money they got before it was noticed. IPS has said this was done in the past. Think about it...... ;)
  20. IPS has already stated, numerous times, that license transfers have been nothing but a headache for them. They really can't charge enough to MAKE it worth their while, either, and I can see why. If you look at all the posts made about it, the problem with something like this becomes pretty clear. It might be a good idea, but it's something in which I highly doubt IPS would involve themselves.
  21. That's great news!!! Thanks for the update, Matt. PS. You got PM about a related item.
  22. Take a look at the Full Editor, to the left of the Style and Fonts dropdown boxes. The "<>" graphic does that now. A bit different, but it does work slick.
  23. Do I "miss" 2.3.x ?? No. I thought the Pro skin was horrid, and the Classic Blue was just acceptable. (These are my *opinions*. ;) ) Fortunately, the skinning community came to the rescue. I *do* like the new skin on 3.0 very much. And I can't wait to see what the skinning community comes up with this time around. I liked the controls available in 2.3.6, but the improvements in 3.0 are quite notable. So far, I'm loving it!
