I have (relatively) big plans for calendar in 3.2. We can't really say too much yet, but I promise - you will see improvements to calendar in 3.2 (not just a few small bug fixes or tweaks).

CalendarOfUpdates reacted to Michael in Reporting posts in a popup?
Would it be possible (in a future version, of course, unless it's something you can throw in easily enough) to make the 'report a post' feature use the javascript popup class? If you go into a topic and report the post, when you hit 'back' you get directed back to the page that actually sends the report, and the report gets sent again. If you could just popup a form where you could report the post, the 'back' button will then really go back again.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought that the preview board did do it in a popup way back when.

Better yet, contact Blizzard Entertainment since that is who the copyright holder would be.

I wouldn't be against adding a setting to report manager that if something is flagged x times it goes into mod queue. I wouldn't want it at 1 (some people could report something for no reason, or just because they dislike the member, or don't know what they are doing), but maybe 2 or 3 (admin-configurable is best option).

CalendarOfUpdates reacted to Enkidu in [SUG] ability to choose how the navigation bar's tabs are arranged
    Hello

here the nav. bar goes like: IPS, Forums, Help, ...etc.

well I want to re-arrange that on my board to the way that suit my board's purpose. Say I want it to be:

IP.Contents, forum, shoot-box, help ...and so on.

the manage application ACP page is currently limited as you can't move IPC above the core application

for sure I can edit my skins to get the job done but every-time you customize a skin's bit you're preventing it from being automatically upgraded when an upgrade is available.

what do you thing guys? is it worth implementing or is it one of those Enkidu boring dumb and topics?

It that case they should use the "report button".

Under "Manage Applications & Modules" I think it should be possible to order the links regardless of their category. Please consider adding the ability to reorder like this for a future release. My desired order would be:

    CCS | Forums | Blog | Gallery | Members | Calendar | Subscriptions

    Kindest Regards,

I'm a sucker for consistent user interfaces. Just noticed that the forum markers turn off when you click on them and mark the entire forum "as read". But, the topic markers (shown when viewing a forum) do not have a similar toggle. You must actually read the topic to mark the entire topic "as read". Seems like a UI oversight to me.

That's a sentence where it's REALLY important to say "you're" versus "your".

Is it possible to make use of reCAPTCHA as an available option in the Security section (System Settings) and select which Usergroups will use it, or just add a "Yes", "No" basis in every Usergroup?

I know it's built into Guests, if you allow them to send PMs.

CalendarOfUpdates reacted to Wolfie in Forum vs Global permission masks
Not sure if this has been requested or not. I know that many mods make use of permission masks now (such as tracker for example). There are some permission masks that are forum-use only, ie, would never be used except for granting permission to certain forums. So it would be nice if I could specify a permission mask as forum only or being global. That way if I have (say 20) masks that are only used for forum permissions and never for anything else, then I can set them to be forum only and then when fiddling with add-ons, I won't have those 20 to scroll past when toggling the global permissions. More or less like a "hide from add-on apps" type of flag.

If implemented, then it would make sense for all masks (existing and future) to default to global, but the admin (when editing/adding a mask) can toggle it as needed.

CalendarOfUpdates reacted to Wolfie in New staff avatars
The new IPS staff avatars look rather nice. Also looks nice on Alex (albeit green because he's a community developer).

Any chance of a GDK/PSD being released for those who want to have similar avatar styles for different boards? :D

CalendarOfUpdates reacted to Michael in Show which template groups have modified templates
In IP.Board 2.x, on the page where we manage our skin templates, you could easily tell which skin group had one or more modified skin templates in it as the little icon beside it would be red. This functionality was removed in 3.x. I found this to be helpful for a number of reasons, and would like to see it return.

First, if an upgrade to the forum software modifies some skin templates, the upgrade script won't touch your modified skin template groups, and you'll have to patch those manually. When we look at a difference report, we used to be able to quickly see whether or not any of the templates changed in this new version needed this manual patching; if you could see that only 3 of your skin's template groups had been modified it made the job of patching a whole lot quicker. Secondly, it can be kind of an annoyance on a development board where you do things like test out code snippets. Again, when you upgrade that board, any modified templates you had won't get updated, so you may run into issues where you just fiddled with a bit of code, forgot to revert it, and now you have some code for the page that is out of whack.

CalendarOfUpdates reacted to Michael in Include 'last build date' on the Downloads page
Since it often happens that a new version gets released, some bugs slip through the testing process and a new build of that version needs to be uploaded to our client centers, I think it would be very helpful if the Your Downloads page where we download our copies of the software showed the date (or some other such indicator) of when this particular version was last uploaded. Maybe a build number there would be a good idea instead?

I'm just thinking of all of the topics we get where folks talk about bugs they have that have already been fixed, but they might not necessarily have known the version was rebuilt.

Can a sticky not be put in this forum? Every weekend people post this topic and it's clearly a stumbling block that many of your newest customers are unaware of (or not understanding in their excitement once they've bought the software). :)

CalendarOfUpdates reacted to Will Munny in My feedback on IPB's SEO measures
As I'm totally reliant on organic search engine traffic, I've been keen to get my hands on the new IPB 3 and have been closely watching the development of it over the last year or so... and after some hiccups, IPS have put together a functional set of SEO measures. I initially had a few reservations when I got my hands on the Release Candidate and went live with it on my live board, such as the huge negative indents in the CSS... however, after observing the effects on my installation and my search ranking over the last couple of months, I only have positive things to say.

I tweaked my furlTemplate.php a little to change the name of/remove a couple of directories. I also removed a superfluous repetition of the board name in the h1 tag. I also had to add a few more instances in the robots.txt file to cover some dupe content issues. I'm still having to add code to generate a 404 header for error pages/deleted topics... but other than that, IPB's out of the box SEO is really quite good... and the skins are far easier to work with than they were in previous versions, and now seem to have pretty good semantic mark up.

CalendarOfUpdates reacted to teraßyte in CSS support for Hooks
Hooks already support templates but what about CSS files?

Adding CSS files manually in the hook package won't add them in DB and so you can't edit those files from ACP using the built-in editor, and using an FTP program to edit them defeats the purpose of the new IPB3 editor.
