AtariAge got a reaction from My Sharona in REDISException: Cannot_Connect (0)
My site was down for about 30 minutes with all manner of errors, "This Community is Temporarily Unavailable", blank pages, etc. It's back up now, but I'm getting tired of this.

Yeah, my forum has mostly been down the last hour, so I'm not very keen on the IPS Cloud service right now.

AtariAge got a reaction from Matt in Expired SSL on Cloud Hosting - HELP!
I can confirm that I was given both CNAME entries last year when I signed up for the service. I have no idea why one of them seemingly vanished on its own, which is rather concerning. If that CNAME entry is only needed for the SSL renewal to succeed, that could have disappeared anytime in the last year.
It would be nice if this information was in the client area, this wasn't even something I even considered might be wrong, since it never dawned on me that a CNAME might have gone missing. I definitely would have checked, though, if I saw this information in the client area, and I would have been back online much faster.

A feature I'd love to see added to this is to limit only 1 status per user to show, to avoid members from spamming the widget.

I was seeing the same thing with my forum.

AtariAge got a reaction from Clover13 in IPS Cloud - downtime on 21st March
Yeah, that sucked, I was using my forum when it went down yesterday evening, and I quickly noticed that Invision's entire site was also down, so I figure all cloud hosting customers were affected.
What concerns me is that there was no communication about this for a long time. Hours went by before I started seeing some changes in what was displayed, as if someone was (finally) investigating what was going on. At one point I saw an Invision 4 Installation page, as well as a page that just said "It works!" That concerned me even more, and again, this was before there was any communication at all.
It seems that an event of this magnitude would result in alarms going off that would get the attention of those who could work on rectifying the problem.

6 hours of downtime is simply unacceptable. I'm a huge fan of Invision, love the amazing software they develop and maintain for us. But when I pay 150/month for a hosted service, I expect more. In 20 years of being self hosted on inexpensive shared hosting services, I've never had more than a few minutes of downtime at a time.
The fact that Invision relies on AWS and that the issue may lie with AWS is irrelevant to us, the customers. As a professional, if I can't deliver a service to my customer because Invision is down, I can't charge my customers. If my forum is down, I can't earn revenue from ads. I can't just tell the customers (or the ad network) "it's not my fault, the software cloud service I'm using was down" and continue to charge them the same amount. I have no choice but to take responsibility and suffer the loss in revenue and reputation.
Invision should take responsibility here, offer $ compensation to paying customers, and deal with whatever service providers they use on their own term. As Invision customers, that's not our problem.

Given it was hours before anything was posted at all (I was looking at that page quite frequently), it wasn't particularly helpful in this case. And I don't need that status page to see that my forum was down, but it was useful to see that it wasn't just my site that was affected. When did Invision actually start working on this issue? Again, better communication would have been useful, rather than being left in the dark for hours.

AtariAge reacted to Jim M in How to put new users into a temporary group other than "Members"
Please be advised I have moved this to a ticket. Typically, the advice here is to move the users from one group to another on our Cloud. This would put you in the driver seat and the best way to do this management. However, the footprint of your community is rather large so on occasion we can get around this.

Please set it up like that on your system, and leave the issue in place. I can then get a ticket created so we can take a look on your system. Im also unable to reproduce this

AtariAge got a reaction from Martin A. in Community Map
I have updated to the new version and was able to generate and install the API key without issues. Map seems to be working now, but I haven't really played with it very much except to verify the map comes up and the pins are displaying in their appropriate locations. 🙂 Now to see if I go over the free 3,000 credits per day!

AtariAge reacted to Clover13 in Tapatalk media recovery?
Run this on your database via phpMyAdmin and it'll give you a rough idea (number of posts that have images but not the actual number of images). I did an ugly iterative approach to fix these since it was a one time fix.
SELECT fp.* FROM forums_posts fp WHERE fp.post like concat('%','uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com','%') ORDER BY fp.post_date DESC; You're just looking for posts that have reference to uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com

So the plugin does all you want including the user settings (I missed to quote that part).

AtariAge got a reaction from SeNioR- in Deleting quotes on mobile device
Just curious if there's been any movement on this? My forum is now updated to 4.7.1 (from 4.4.x), and I'm having users report that this is still an issue. I'm glad to see I can delete quote boxes on my iPhone using the stock Safari browser, but it seems some people with Android devices are still having issues.
Thank you,

AtariAge reacted to Martin A. in Community Map
I'll take this back after having read some support topics. Looks like a lot of apps are throwing errors because of this new scanner.
If you can you should setup a test forum where you install these apps and then perform an upgrade on that. Don't need to create a mirror of your live site, just a default install with all your apps and plugins.

AtariAge got a reaction from Steve Bullman in Community Map
Thanks for the answer. Sure would be nice if I knew in advance what wouldn't work when upgrading to 4.7.2, versus upgrading, having half my apps/plugins broken, and then waiting for them to be fixed. Especially since some of them are somewhat critical to my community (and most of those are custom apps/plugins I paid to have written).

AtariAge reacted to Adriano Faria in Can the initial member group be changed?
Edit the member_group in conf_global.php:
'member_group' => 3, Change 3 by the id of the group you want.
EDIT:
Oh, forgot you're CiC. Not sure it's possible as you don't have FTP access. You better wait for someone from IPS to answer this one.
