  1. My site was down for about 30 minutes with all manner of errors, "This Community is Temporarily Unavailable", blank pages, etc. It's back up now, but I'm getting tired of this.
  2. Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous that this hasn't been fixed in CKEditor. It's also very difficult sometimes to split a quote in the editor on desktop (probably mobile as well). That is, you can often hit "return" as many times as you'd like, and it doesn't split the quote into two. This is much more annoying to me than the inability to delete a quote on a mobile device, since I mostly interact with forums on my computer.
  3. Yeah, my forum has mostly been down the last hour, so I'm not very keen on the IPS Cloud service right now. ..Al
  4. I can confirm that I was given both CNAME entries last year when I signed up for the service. I have no idea why one of them seemingly vanished on its own, which is rather concerning. If that CNAME entry is only needed for the SSL renewal to succeed, that could have disappeared anytime in the last year. It would be nice if this information was in the client area, this wasn't even something I even considered might be wrong, since it never dawned on me that a CNAME might have gone missing. I definitely would have checked, though, if I saw this information in the client area, and I would have been back online much faster.
  5. I really hope this doesn't take 24 hours to fix. Does anyone from Invision support work on the weekends?
  6. The SSL certificate for forums.atariage.com has expired, and guests cannot visit my forum without seeing this: This is extraordinarily bad timing, as we just had a huge announcement two days ago, so there is a ton of new visitors to the site who are now going to see this, as well as current users who are going to be wondering what the heck is going on. Quite a bad look for us, and I'm quite unhappy about this right now. I hope someone from Invision will see this and fix it as quickly as possible! Thank you. I can't even bypass this to get into the forum due to the HSTS policy, and neither can anyone else, so this has effectively taken the forum down, and I can't even explain to people what is going on. This looks even worse in Chrome:
  7. Yes, I'd also very much like to see that. Something else I'd like to see is to NOT display status updates that were posted by another user on someone's profile. Usually those are intended for that individual, and often don't make much sense being displayed in the widget on the front page of the forum. Thank you!
  8. Great, thank you for confirming. The search results page doesn't show that you are excluding search terms when you prefix a term with "-". Nor are there any clues you can use "+" and "-", so that would be helpful if it was displayed somewhere. Here's what I see when using the following terms, quadrun prototype -2732 Thank you for your help!
  9. Oh, I mean when you enter a search term, not a term I'd want to remove permanently. For instance, something like, "quadrun reproduction -7800" I know how to do it when performing an SQL query, but I'm guessing there's no support to do this from the forum search. ..Al
  10. Is it possible to exclude a search therm when performing a search on the forum? Thank you!
  11. Yes, it's @Adriano Faria's "Validating Members With Links" plugin, but I'm not sure it's available here (a quick search didn't reveal it in the Marketplace). You can send him a private message to ask him about it.
  12. For several years now I have been using email and Admin validation. I have a mod that allows me to quickly look at Google and StopForumSpam links for the username, email address, and IP address for pending members on the main index of the forum (only visible to admins, of course), so I don't have to go into the ACP. And I have a link to WhatIsMyIPAddress.com with the IP address, which makes it easier to identify people coming in through VPNs and proxies, plus I can see what country the user is coming in from. With these tools, I can identify most spammers 95% of the time (if not higher). For spammers who who get through my manual validation, the first three posts a user makes need to be manually approved, so that will generally catch the remainder. It's a pain, but it's the only reliable means I've had of keeping spammers off the forum.
  13. That looks to be a very nice mod, but I'm a quote leery about installing something that would allow me to easily read PMs. The only time I go looking at PMs is if someone reports a PM (which then allows me to join a conversation), someone explicitly gives me permission to go look through their PMs (for instance, if someone is sending them a bunch of harassing PMs), or in a situation as I described above where someone has alerted me that they received a message they believe to be a scam (then I will login as that user from the ACP to check if they are sending obvious scam messages to a bunch of users). I consider private conversations sacrosanct otherwise.
  14. You're right, I do see that text. That does seem to be not working correctly. I'll bring this up with Invision and see what they say. Thank you.
  15. I have the same setting enabled (of course), but users coming in through alternate registration methods are definitely able to bypass the Admin validation. Looking at the details for the other login handlers, the text for the "Create an account" option explicitly states that if an email is provided, the account is automatically validated: This would explain why new members are able to bypass the admin validation. ..Al
  16. Yes, I mentioned this in my first post, but it's not a solution I'm crazy about. There are legitimate reasons for people to send a PM when they first sign up. For instance, we have a good deal of software and hardware development in our forum, and people often setup waiting lists or put games/hardware up for sale directly in the forum, asking people to PM them if they are interested. Many people will sign up to the forum explicitly to send these people a message. Restricting PMs for new members would cause many headaches in this department.
  17. If that's true, that's unfortunate. No way in hell I'm re-enabling those methods without a solution to this ongoing issue.
  18. Greetings, I'm having a large problem on my forum where someone signs up using a third-party login method (Google, Facebook, Twitter, Discord) and then sends a batch of private messages to members who have previously posted in the forum they are looking for some unique item (we have a "Wanted" marketplace forum, which is where most of these posts are located). The scammer states that they have the item, and to send them a message at a specified email address. It's bad enough that I have had to post a warning at the top of my Marketplace forum to educate people about this scam, and I've heard this is a common issue on many forums these days. Here's an example from this evening: Unfortunately, I cannot enable Admin Validation of new accounts if they are not created with the Standard login method. Therefore, I have had to completely disable all third-party login methods. I can usually spot scammer/spammer accounts by manual validating them, as they are usually using proxy/VPN servers, may show up in StopForumSpam.com (email address, username, and/or IP address), are attempting to login from a country known for scammers/spammers that I never get real validations from, or I get some interesting results in Google (for instance, signing up on a number of different forums within a 24 hour period). I could prevent new users from using the PM system, and then promote them to another user group after 'x' number of posts, but there are legitimate reasons to allow new members to send PMs, and I don't want to punish those people. Another thing that would be useful is to be notified if a new member sends a slew of PMs to different individuals in a short period of time after joining, especially if they've never made any posts on the forum. I could then login as that member from the ACP and easily discern if that user is attempting to scam people, even without looking at the individual PMs (just seeing the message titles gives them away). It would also be really helpful if there was a way to flag PMs based on certain keywords, at least in specific user groups (such as a "New Members" group) that contained certain words. It's very common for these scammers to include an email address in their PMs (since they want to conduct business off site to avoid detection), so being able to flag on that would be helpful. I'm open to other suggestions as well to try and combat this behavior, as it would be nice to open up the Google, Facebook, and Discord logins again (Twitter can buzz off, no way in hell I'm paying the ransom to use their API). Thank you!
  19. Given it was hours before anything was posted at all (I was looking at that page quite frequently), it wasn't particularly helpful in this case. And I don't need that status page to see that my forum was down, but it was useful to see that it wasn't just my site that was affected. When did Invision actually start working on this issue? Again, better communication would have been useful, rather than being left in the dark for hours.
  20. That wasn't my point, my point is that if someone was aware of this as soon as Invision's site was down (especially given the nature of it where it took down their entire cloud service), they could have started investigating immediately. Since Invision is using a third-party monitoring service, I assume it's possible to send notifications via several different means (SMS, emails, etc.) when an event like this occurs. And if the service they are using now doesn't support that type of functionality, there are plenty of alternatives that do.
  21. Yeah, that sucked, I was using my forum when it went down yesterday evening, and I quickly noticed that Invision's entire site was also down, so I figure all cloud hosting customers were affected. What concerns me is that there was no communication about this for a long time. Hours went by before I started seeing some changes in what was displayed, as if someone was (finally) investigating what was going on. At one point I saw an Invision 4 Installation page, as well as a page that just said "It works!" That concerned me even more, and again, this was before there was any communication at all. It seems that an event of this magnitude would result in alarms going off that would get the attention of those who could work on rectifying the problem.
  22. I didn't receive an email, but yesterday morning I noticed geolocation information wasn't being displayed in the ACP (for example, when looking at member IP information), with a message instead to setup the Google API or something of that nature. I took a look at the integrations, and the Google Maps API was disabled -- I don't believe I ever set that up, although geolocation was being displayed up until yesterday. So, I enabled that integration and then followed the steps to create the private and public keys. I definitely had never seen that particular Google API website before, amazing how many different APIs they have. The steps in the ACP aren't quite right, in particular, one of the links to setup the credentials wasn't quite correct, and I had to fumble around a bit to get to the right place. Once I got the API keys setup with the proper restrictions, everything seems to work. And now I'm seeing maps on some screens, which I was not seeing before.
  23. I have to assume Community Map, as that's what I'm running.
  24. Greetings, At least twice now, all the clubs on my forum (and there are quite a few) have been updated with the same exact "Last Activity" timestamp. This makes sorting the clubs by Latest Activity worthless. As the admin, I am not doing anything that would cause this, nor is anyone else. I saw another thread where someone stated this was happening as well, back in September: Here's a screenshot from my forum, showing a page full of clubs that all have the exact same update time and date: Would certainly like to know why this is happening, I assume it's a bug of some sort, especially as it's happened to at least one other member here. Thank you!
