Square Wheels reacted to CheersnGears in Moving Attachments Files Stuck
I don't have anything to add for tech help except to agree with the sentiment of the title.
I moved my attachments folder overnight, too. It finished completely and I see no errors...
...... only it left behind a lot of files on my server, didn't move them to S3, and then updated the image URLs anyway.
This was the second attempt at a move because the first attempt didn't respect the folder inside of the bucket in the URL, but did move the files to the proper folder in the bucket.
The file move process has always been a huge headache with IPS4, I hope IPS5 can be better.

Just popping in to add that I would second this suggestion.
A "save as draft" option would be fabulous, particularly in Pages. We have a database set up for articles, and it would be SO much easier to have a draft option there. Multiple members have to go over articles for that area, so right now, we have to use a private Club area for those members to review and add to articles -- then transfer them into the Pages database.

I am really hoping that Invision will see fit to include a save draft feature, at least for Pages, in IC5.  I have lost so much work over the years due to the lack of this simple feature.
I just lost 3/4 of an article I wrote because I was going to click another button, and some menu popup jumped in front of me.  But also, I have been attempting to work around this for years by setting the post date several days in the future, saving repeatedly, and then backdating it to the current time once I'm ready to publish. This workflow, frankly, is absurd in the year of our lord 2024.  Furthermore, it messes with block and new activity sorting by showing those articles that originally had future publish dates at the top of the list, even if they've been read or their backdated date has passed.

For example when I've typed something in Facebook and I accidentally try to close the tab, I get an alert stating I'm about to lose any unsaved content, and asking me to confirm. Maybe something like that could be a solution.

Take a look at this: https://www.sosinvision.com.br/index.php?/file/310-stop-all-members-email-notifications/
I’m going to add an ACP module with some filters (joined date, last visit date, group, posts, etc.) then people will be able to choose members based on their own criteria and it will update all selected members.
    Should be updated by tomorrow.

    Reproduced as follows;
Create a brand new theme Download the theme using the option in the console Edit the theme, populate the header and footer bits via the available tab. Review site on front-end, verify items are there. Use the "Upload a new version" option on the theme, and use the XML file that was downloaded in step 2 Edit the theme - the previously added header/footer content is gone Review site on front-end, the previously added header/footer content may still be there in the theme. If so... Run support tool to clear caches Review site on front-end, the previously added header/footer content are now gone.

specific email addresses? Understood...you've probably created a number of SQL queries then (1 per email address) and not just using one catch-all query.
But for the benefit of those reading at a later point - if wanting to do this for a specific email domain then can be done via the above method:

    Yep.
    update core_members set member_group_id = X where member_group_id = Y
    A backup is always recommended.

Thank you, @opentype and @Daniel F.  This was the issue, although I am not sure I solved the problem.
I initially followed the instructions in the ACP:
    API restrictions
    Choose Restrict key and..
I edited the keys to make them unrestricted and the maps showed immediately.

If you want to take the "user renames the file extension" element out of the equation, then here's a different kludge which can be applied by a moderator/admin after the file has been uploaded...
Edit the post View the 'Source' in the editor In amongst the HTML, you will see type="video/quicktime" Change quicktime to mp4 (therefore type="video/mp4") Save the edit. I've added something to my "HTML5 Video/Audio Player" resource which will apply that kludge to content without the need for editing the content.

For applications, the folder is enough.
Plugins are a bit more annoying since part of the (setup) files is not saved. It can still be done, though. It just requires some extra time. I've done it for some clients before.

    Hi,
No, we're not going to distribute other developers IP through a method they did not agree to.
If you have the app installed, you already have the files on your server. A competent developer would know where to look to get those and build whatever changes you want on top of that.

Square Wheels reacted to Gill in Improve UI/ UX For Standalone Polls
    Hi Good Morning
    IPB Community & Team
Right Now if user want to create standalone poll (Use Topic Title as Poll Title without separate Topic Title  ) it create duplicate content as Follows

Because poll can't be created without filling out "Poll Title" and "Question Title" Fields

It would be great if user able to create polls without filling out "Poll Title" and "Question Title" Fields Then Polls could be shown as follows which will improve polls UI/UX

I Hope IPB Team will includes this improvement in upcoming IPB 5

    Thanks
    Gill

I gotta say, this is a pain.  I have to contact each provider, hope they have a site, then register, then keep up with many different sites.
Over time, there will be fewer and fewer providers, eventually most of them will probably give up.  Especially the ones that created one or two fun apps.

Square Wheels reacted to Foxtrek_64 in Ordering a Pages database record
In the database entry in the ACP, select Fields and add a new field called Order. Make this an Integer field, and set the minimum to 0 and make it required. Under the Display Options tab, disable all display options.
In the options for the database, go to Options -> Field Options -> Sort. A new entry under the Sort dropdown for Order should now be present. Select ascending order for higher numbers to be visible later.
I also recommend separating order by at least 100. So for instance, the first record should be 0, the second should be 100, the third should be 200, and so forth. This way if you find out that you want to put the second item after the third, you can change its order to 250. This avoids needing to reorder the entire record set.

Just thinking outside of the box here-
You could create a profile field, and then use a custom box to display the field of a particular user. It would require knowing the user's unique id (which can be acquired by hovering over their user account and inspecting the link preview) and leveraging a bit of IC code to pull the user object, and then requesting the profile field by id. I'm not 100% sure what this would look like off the top of my head though. I'm also not 100% sure what the switcher on the left would look like programmatically.

    Downsides to this solution:
Only one human can edit this data (excluding admins), so if you have an organization they may need to engage in some password sharing. In order for this field to be visible anywhere outside of the ACP, it needs to at least be visible in profiles. So people viewing their profile would end up seeing this in their sidebar. ---
If you absolutely must have things display the way they do in your sample, your best bet may be to commission a custom plugin. Otherwise, it may be worth while just to use a database and leverage one of the more traditional views.

This kind of page set-up (using pages and blocks) and the content is meant for admins to design and fill. It’s not really something you could hand-over to advertisers easily.
It could work with a Pages database, where certain members/user-groups get the permissions to add/edit records. But that would require a custom database with a custom template.

So, to me, this is absolutely bonkers.

IPS' team has noticed that their plugin community is a fraction of what it used to be, thinks this is because everyone has switched to bespoke work (You sure it's not the other way around? People using bespoke work /because/ the plugin community has a fraction of the size it did back when there was a free version and before IPS was trying to be everything for every person by default?).

So they /murder/ pre-made plugins. No, we're not going to see thriving new marketplaces. Excited devs will start some, none of these will be as active as the current one, most if not all of these efforts will peter out quickly. Not having the marketplace in the panel, not having them vetted by IPS, not having people browse over them prior to purchasing IPS (and plan out a setup with plugins), not having their plugins listed on IPS' websites are all small cuts that together, cut deep. IPS' website was never a limiter on other marketplaces (they've always existed for themes and some plugins), but free advertisement to those who did have those. You're merely taking away an option and your stamp of approval.

And you do this brilliant move in the middle of a version, announcing it to your costumers roughly a month up-front.

Definitely not obvious you're springing it this way to ensure customers don't either, mass-hug a former major version to keep their plugins, or start planning migrations away from IPS between the time of announcement and release.

Now, months after it happened, I google 'Invisionpower plugins marketplace' and find nothing on the first page.

Sincerely, as someone who was a fan once of IPS, you people suck.
