Not as such, it's easily achieved with a template edit though.
in mapGoogleJavascript find:
if($count > 0) { foreach ($markers as $marker) { $md5 = md5($marker['lat'].$marker['lon']); $this->mrkrs[$md5][] = $marker; } }
Replace with:
if($count > 0 && $this->memberData['member_id']) { foreach ($markers as $marker) { $md5 = md5($marker['lat'].$marker['lon']); $this->mrkrs[$md5][] = $marker; } } -

[*]Yep [*]I don't think so, I just tested with a partial US zip code. Pretty much anything that works in Google Maps will work in this map [*]Nope, it's an extremely poor way of guessing a location, unless you want a very rough location. I think you would need access to a geo IP service such as maxmind.com for that too.

a sort of related suggestion for the future would be to tie in the performance mode with the server cut off option
ie automatically switches on performance mode when server load hits x

Oh come on, the majority. That's nonsense. This change is more about coder ego and has nothing to do with what a majority thinks.
I'm also looking for the return of the original poster. Is that part of the offer too? -

Working on that now, first an Admin CP setting and then a User setting:

What? Seriously? How the heck can you come to such a conclusion? The people who liked the feature (as it was) never submitted tickets about it. I'd really love to see some of these tickets. Even with some people complaining about the way it works in 2.3.x, an option should have been provided to allow admins (or users) to decide how this should work. This is naivety on Invision's part if they didn't think such a change was going to net them some negative feedback. They were well within their power to make this change in such a fashion to keep everyone happy. And again, this is just one facet of the changes that were made.
I don't agree. If it's a feature many of your users use frequently, and is the primary means they use to hunt down new posts they may be interested in viewing, then it could easily sour your users to your forum with the switch to 3.0.0.

I've been talking about this since the first day of IP3 previews in 2008. My hunch is now supported by feedback from my membership.
View New Posts and Today's Active Posts.
View New Content is a step down from View New Posts. Not sure what prompted it but it makes no sense. People want to follow their own threads through that feature. Was it that difficult to keep their own read posts in it? I'm trying to understand the logic for making that change.
Both of the above also need reference to the original posters in threads.
Without reverting back to those features it doesn't matter how much better the rest of the board is. They immediately detract from what should be a huge leap forward.

sound reacted to SamGranger in Ways to compensate for IPB 3.x not fully supporting IE6
I find this rather amusing. IE6 is crap and I hate it - I have to support ie6 however at my work for a lot of web applications (AJAX etc...). The procentage of IE6 users is huge. It's a big market share. Same thing with IPB's skin, it does not display the same in ie due to the moz borders which makes it look a lot less pretty. Why didn't Invision make it ie6 compatible? There is nothing I can see on IPB3 in a good browser that cannot be achieved for ie6.
