I really like the Fluid view, but it would be great if there was a way to hide the forum selection sidebar once you've made your selections so the other sidebar items aren't pushed down because of it being at the top, or maybe move it to a modal when you activate Fluid view?

Joy Rex got a reaction from sobrenome in Post Attachments to Gallery - Is It Possible?
I've got a bit of a quandary with my users - I provide them storage space based on their memberships so they can upload content to posts, etc.. Works great, except for when somebody runs out of space - I have to increase the space allowed for their group, or consider enabling the ability to delete their attachments, which will in turn create broken links in content they uploaded.
Is there any way to move attachments from a user or possibly a thread into a Gallery? That might be a better solution than having broken content on the site - that is if Gallery uploads do not count against a user's attachment limits (if defined).
Any ideas or solutions I'm not seeing are greatly appreciated.

I came across this neat article on how to have an SVG favicon that will honour a user's browser/OS light/dark mode using CSS: https://codyhouse.co/nuggets/svg-favicon-dark-mode
As you can see, modern browser support is pretty good: https://caniuse.com/#feat=link-icon-svg
I notice that one of the allowed file types for favicons isn't SVG - would that be something we can add in ourselves (it would be better if IPS officially supported it though)?

Gotcha. To use IPS to run AdSense, I followed the below steps. Even if it does not help you, this guide will hopefully help others who are looking to monetize using AdSense (or any other advertisement platform, since the steps will likely be the same).
    Google AdSense
Setup an AdSense account Either enable Auto Ads or create your own ad units via AdSense console Copy the code provided. Note, each ad unit will have its own unique code. This is important for reporting later on; to understand which ad units perform better/worse than others IPS > AdminCP > Advertisements
In AdminCP, navigate to System > Advertisements "+Create New" (top right) a new unit to correspond with the ad units created in the AdSense console Copy the respective code provided from the AdSense console to your new IPS ad unit in the IPS console IPS gives you options for page placement. I always select "Define Your Own Locations" because it gives you maximum control over placement Give your ad unit a unique "Custom Location Key". Each ad unit needs a custom location key name IPS > AdminCP > Pages
In AdminCP, navigate to Pages > Blocks Create New Block > Custom Block > Manual HTML In the Details tab, give your new block a unique name and then move to Content tab Add code <center><div>{advertisement="Custom Location Key Name"}</div></center> replacing Custom Location Key Name with the one you chose earlier Save In original or new window, open the Block Manager and add your new block wherever you want the ad to appear on your page(s) Hope this helps, but please provide feedback and I will update as requested. I can definitely add more (way more 😉 ) details if anyone thinks it would be useful.

Joy Rex got a reaction from Interferon in Everybody is choosing "Night Mode" nowadays....
I think the fact that IPS is themable negates the need for a "dark mode" which is popular with apps today. Perhaps if IPS provided a dark version of the default theme...
If an application-level dark mode was implemented, then theme creators would have to support it with dark mode CSS for their themes - which raises the question - would an already dark theme go reverse in dark mode (e.g., light mode)? 😀

I was thinking the same thing!  I like the info and wanted it on every post but not using up that much space!  I would also like to see a entry field that self populates with usernames that posted in this post...when you get to who you are looking for, click the name to show that member's (or your own) posts within this topic!  That would be helpful for longer topics!

Joy Rex reacted to opentype in 4.5.2 WHY change default colors! Theme for Old Colors?
Background information can be found here: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/product-updates/45-introducing-our-updated-default-theme-r1198/
It was a design overhaul, streamlining and simplifying things and with that improving it. It’s not someone changed the colors just for the fun of it.
Adjusting the color palette to the needs of a specific site is now actually a little bit easier now. I’ve done it for around five IPS 4.5 sites already. Not sure where the “huge amount of work is”. You open the theme settings and change the colors with the color picker. Pretty easy to do.

Joy Rex got a reaction from sobrenome in How to embed MOV files?
The only way that would work is if there was an account on the YouTube Channel that IPS could use as a service account to handle uploads to YouTube through - I don't think YouTube has an API to upload videos to a channel.
Barring the above, the other concern (non-technical) is if a user uploads something that violates their TOS and creates issues for the YT channel...

Joy Rex got a reaction from Sheffielder in 4.5.2 WHY change default colors! Theme for Old Colors?
So if you never customized anything, what's the issue? You liked the old 4.4.x colors better? IPS had been saying for some time there was a new default theme coming, etc. - it's not as if this should be a big surprise to anyone...
I guess what you could do is find a site running 4.4.x and ask them to provide you the hex values, or maybe IPS could give you an old to new color mapping (doubtful they would have it)...

First off - my apologies for my rude assumption - guess I was in a bad mood when I wrote that...
Second, I hear what you're saying - but how many IPS customers are like yourself and @Paul E. that do know what they are doing - probably not that many. So from a business perspective, it makes sense for IPS to move towards a framework or methodology that allows them more flexibility in software development since any support requests are likely to come though the ticketing system anyway.
