Joy Rex got a reaction from Numbered in 4.4: Animated GIFs
I think a "play on hover/tap*" feature for GIFs would be great from a UX perspective, but also from a performance perspective - no endlessly looping GIFs slowing down browsers or mobile devices.
*for mobile since there is no hover
In fact, here's how: https://www.hongkiat.com/blog/on-click-animated-gif/

Two questions:
Can you add an option to stop auto animating gifs? If somebody wants to see - he can click for watch it. Like videos. When you create an ability to load heavy content (images, gifs, etc) inside spoiler only after it opened? We still have users who have limited internet traffic. They very hate other people, who posted big pictures and those gifs. And they hate us because we didn't block autoloading heavy content inside spoilers. I think these two features are better than one more simple integration. Looks like a plugin, no more. I'm sorry. Just want to make attention to the more real communities pain connected to the current announcement.

No no, we mustn't let the compliments get to their heads.
They need to get back to work.

Yes - 3.4.9 has this setting too in Nexus, but it doesn't seem to have the desired effect - users can sign up, they are put in the Validating group, and for all intents and purposes are signed up, but cannot do anything based on my restrictions on that group.
My point here is I would want them to have a confirmed purchase before they are able to access the site and be assigned to a group, and force them to purchase a package. I think this new feature will help in the fact there is a reminder to "complete your profile", so if it is not possible the way I describe, this will hopefully mitigate the unfulfilled user issue I have now.

I see you are still using ReCaptcha v1 on the sign up form. Google has moved on to ReCaptcha V2 and Invisible ReCaptcha.
Is Invisible ReCaptcha supported in 4.2?
I think Invisible ReCaptcha should be the default to make sign up even easier for new users.

That's a great idea - not a complete replacement for the old 3.4.x addon I have that would automatically move members into a "restricted" group after 180 days of inactivity, then delete the account after another 180 if they still hadn't done anything.

Joy Rex got a reaction from Saurabh Jain in New: Editor Uploading
I replied to your post in the presales forum (don't know if the post was approved yet or not), but there are plugins for CKEditor (which is what the Editor in IPS is based on) for latex and other mathematical functions. I believe they can be integrated into the Editor on IPS just like they can if you use CKEditor standalone.

This is an amazing new feature - people who complain about losing their community engagement to the likes of Farcebook and Reddit now have a potentially powerful new tool to re engage their users.

We hardcoded so you can never change the icon. You must use the heart forever. It is a steadfast requirement. There are no settings to change it. If you try your site will delete.

Out of curiosity, are these feature additions driven primarily by customer feedback, or some internal investigative process to determine what features would best fit the product roadmap?
Not criticizing, just wondering what the primary driving influences behind new features are.
That being said, this is one of those "common sense" features, so well done!

Although I'm a developer, I think the ideal is NOT to rely on 3rd-party solutions for everything. A couple of settings would make it useful. The way it is today, it's better to keep using @CodingJungle's resource

Not sure if its my graphic designer’s eye or if my OCD is too severe, but the fact that many letters aren’t centered properly is painful to me.

Agreed - no reason to rely on a third-party addon if most of the functionality is already present natively.
With the recommended additional features of notifying Mods and Admins of potential duplicate accounts, this would go a long way in replacing 3.4.x addons that performed this functionality.

I feel that given all the other work already done, a page to detail users sharing devices (as described in my first comment) should be built into IP.Board, versus a third-party add-on.

This is an amazing new feature - I can see where in many communities this will be a highlight and certainly help engagement.

Nice to see a Coda user!
So if I understand the first part correctly, once you establish the template within Pages, you can then use an external editor (like Coda) to make changes to it, upload, and the changes will be reflected without having to import or a similar process?
I haven't started using Pages yet, but I am familiar how CMSes work like ExpressionEngine.

Joy Rex got a reaction from Rikki in Support for PHP 5.4 ending soon
Look at it this way - IPB supported PHP 5.4 almost a year after it was deemed End of Life by the creators - you can't expect IPB to maintain backwards compatibility AND take advantage of the latest technologies.
You can always choose not to upgrade your IPB install until your host decides to upgrade PHP - and as @Charles suggested in his comment, if your host is unwilling to upgrade (which is unsafe for a variety of reasons), then perhaps you should look at alternative hosting once your contract with them expires.
