  1. It could be an option but don't fancy doing that each time, plus in general I wouldn't want my site to be 10-15 minutes behind for guests even during normal periods.
  2. Sounds like it'd be expensive, not something I need to solve spikes that happen 5/6 times a year at most
  3. I tried it and it was no good, during that busy time of 30 minutes to an hour, 99.9% of visitors will be viewing the one topic where the latest posts need to be available. It worked with guest page caching set as 30 seconds even those it was advised against, it helped the server cope compared to now without it. Whats a load balanced server?
  4. I tried it but my site was always 10-15 minutes behind for guests, during a busy time I have a live topic that is constantly updating - if the guests are 10-15 minutes behind its a big problem and makes the site almost pointless to visit.
  5. Is base page caching what I had previously on this post? It was no good as the site wasn't updating for guests
  6. See the large spike in activity compared to normal, any ideas how I can cope with that now guest page cache has been removed? It's adding more pressure onto the server as expected during this sort of moment to the point where it crashes and maxes out (this is a powerful server too)
  7. Had my first proper busy spike last night and the site crashed, got a load of internal server errors and had lots of these in the logs 2023/01/10 21:20:49 [alert] 127868#127868: *28491671 socket() failed (24: Too many open files) while connecting to upstream Pretty sure if I had guest page caching still it wouldn't have been as big a problem as it was, first time in 4 years the current server has ever been properly overloaded which I could see coming as soon as Guest page caching was removed. The amount of members and guests connecting to the site at the same time must have been pushing 2,000. Not sure what I can do now as Cloudflare hasn't helped prevent this (its just set up with default settings, as mentioned earlier in the topic I tried to replicate the guest page cache but it never updated the site for guests for a long time)
  8. It was part of software around 2.x but they removed it and just referred to it as clutter or something like that, one of a few things I never understood.
  9. Another one of those features IPS been against for so long, you've no option but to use a mod. The one I used for years stopped working since 4.6 I think so I had to pay someone to remake it.
  10. I never understood why follow had a whole line to itself 5 years ago, it was one of the first things I sorted out when upgrading to version 4
  11. These have stopped again on latest version not getting emails about reports sent in
  12. I've noticed sometimes large gaps will appear at the end of posts when someone posts on my site. This has happened quite often over the years but the current member its affecting is extreme, sometimes it canbe 200+ lines meaning you have to scroll a long time until the post ends. I have asked what phone and browser they are using and its a Samsung a53 using default browser. Example here
  13. Don't do it to yourself, I spent months trying to figure out facebook and instagram embedding and got nowhere.
  14. I've checked with my hosts and I'm apparently using Dynamic already, it's just not showing in phpmyadmin as I'm on an older version of Ubuntu. Should I upgrade from 18 to 20 ubuntu? I don't know whether it's needed.
  15. Is there something in the latest release that’s causing issues with this as I’m seeing a lot of problems since it was released
  16. If it ever happens it'll be a cloud feature to rub everyones noses in it
  17. @SeNioR- I don't have any cache rules set now, as mentioned a few posts up, since it wasn't updating for a long time for guests. So now I am using standard Cloudflare cache with not alot else changed or added. So I assume the suggestion of setting the sidebar/header etc as 0 was only if I had those cache rules set up? Concerned about those images missing though, any idea what would be causing that?
  18. Is that likely to happen as I've never seen that error before, nor have I ever been warned about it in the Admin CP.
  19. Do I need it to be Dynamic? I've not had any issues
  20. Does it just need to be enabled or would the database need converting to use it as well?
  21. I keep reading I shouldn't have compact set for innodb row format. But the only options I can see are Compact or Redundant. All my tables show like this but I've received no warnings about it in the software. Is this not how it should be though?
  22. Was this working in 4.7.4? I have a similar mod but its been working so far, wary about stuff breaking when I upgrade now.
  23. The only reason I went Pro was for some support if needed setting it up, and it says image optimization and accelerated mobile pages (a large % of my visits are mobile)
  24. Now I'm wondering whether I need the Pro version I signed up for or just go free as I'm doing nothing but that 😄
