  1. Does it allow MX records to be added etc? I use those for Google email, and Amazon SES which uses CNAMES for sending out from forum. Not that I'm moving just interested how difficult everything would be 🤔
  2. Wouldn't know where to start. The seperate database is also big one of the tables even has 75,000 rows. Obviously it makes sense for it to be part of the framework but it would have been impossible to put together that way.
  3. I do use Pages but I use a single line of includes for each page to bring the page into the forum after uploading them into a folder in public_html. I think the pages are too big and complicated to move into the Pages app. Below is a portion of a 1000 long line file. I don't believe this will work with the Pages app.
  4. PM your forum so I can check it out to compare speed 👍 When you say I'm not technically savvy, maybe not, I've always got by, but not being able to upload self written php files for a seperate area of the forum doesn't come under not technically savvy, its a restriction. All cloud seems to accomodate is a basic forum.
  5. So you can’t create a backup before upgrading there’s #4 And as for php files and database I have a separate area on my site which I put together which uses php files and a separate database. It is on the forum here https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/history/browse/ but not part of the forum database. so if I can’t even upload those files #3 can be reinstated
  6. Also I have a separate database on the server too, I bet that’s not allowed either, or even phpmyadmin?
  7. I have pages but never used it for this. What about creating in a new folder in public_html and uploading multiple php/css files / images for a separate section on my forum? If it’s easily done then 3 can be written off, but still a restriction I’d not be comfortable with On another note can backups be created via ssh? I’m guessing not
  8. The top 3 1. Too expensive, seems to be twice what I pay already. 2. It's slower. 3. Can't even access files via FTP, sounds like an absolute nightmare to upload something simple like an ads.txt file
  9. What would you recommend increasing them to? This is what they are at the moment
  10. I'm not sure what more information to provide, all I know is the too many open files erro didn't seem to happen before I set up Cloudflare. I don't know if its related or not.
  11. I've been getting internal server errors for the last few months whenever the site gets busy normally. The server isn't overloaded but this is the error in logs 2023/01/10 21:20:49 [alert] 127868#127868: *28491671 socket() failed (24: Too many open files) while connecting to upstream My hosts don't seem to know and have increased the open files limit to a high amount but it still happening and now just pointing me in your direction to ask how you handle traffic as I've got 167 children spawning which may be causing too many open files? But this was happening at 1am in the morning when the site wasn't busy. Any ideas?
  12. This does seem to have helped for those who've made that change so far 😃
  13. I don't tend to log out so I suppose I could just leave that rule in there, if I understand right 🤔
  14. Does it work fine without that line then? Why was it added in any case as surely ips4_member_id does the same thing? I think I'll just use it in extreme circumstances to take the load off the server if I need to. So I'll just keep it as it is (without that admin session id) with 30 seconds set in the constants file
  15. Ok, what I don't know though is should I just use lets encrypt or continue to pay for the RapidSSL cert (very little knowledge on the subject)
  16. Not sure what to do as my hosts said this in reply to asking if I can change to standard letsencrypt on the server from the paid ssl
  17. If I'm using Cloudflare what SSL do I need on my server? Previous to using Cloudflare I bought one from RapidSSL which is still active but expiring soon, I'm wondering would a free LetsEncrypt be enough considering its going through Cloudflare too now? Or does a paid one still have benefits?
  18. @The Old Man any idea if this suggestion would work? https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/469586-feature-deprecations/page/12/#comment-2923940
  19. I'm still getting quite a few complaints about this and long empty spaces at the end of posts
  20. Is this an official IPS table or related to the member map mod I used to use a few years ago? I'm guessing its part of IPS due to the name of the table having 'core' in it. I am seeing these errors a bit so I thought I'd ask REPLACE INTO `ibf_core_item_member_map` (map_member_id, map_item_id, map_latest_date, map_class) SELECT DISTINCT `author_id`, `topic_id`, UNIX_TIMESTAMP(), 'IPS\\forums\\Topic' FROM `ibf_forums_posts` AS `forums_posts` WHERE ( queued IN(0,2) ) AND ( topic_id IN(125376) ) IPS\Db\Exception: Deadlock found when trying to get lock; try restarting transaction (1213) #0 /home/**/public/system/Db/Db.php(972): IPS\_Db->preparedQuery() #1 /home/**/public/system/Node/Statistics.php(295): IPS\_Db->replace() #2 /home/**/public/system/Node/Statistics.php(76): IPS\forums\_Forum->rebuildPostedIn() #3 /home/**/public/system/Node/Statistics.php(160): IPS\forums\_Forum->authorsPostedIn() #4 /home/**/public/system/Helpers/Table/Content.php(499): IPS\forums\_Forum->contentPostedIn() #5 /home/**/public/system/Helpers/Table/Table.php(494): IPS\Helpers\Table\_Content->getRows() #6 /home/**//public/applications/forums/modules/front/forums/forums.php(568): IPS\Helpers\Table\_Table->__toString() #7 /home/**/applications/forums/modules/front/forums/forums.php(38): IPS\forums\modules\front\forums\_forums->_forum() #8 /home/**/public/system/Dispatcher/Controller.php(118): IPS\forums\modules\front\forums\_forums->manage() #9 /home/**/public/system/Dispatcher/Dispatcher.php(153): IPS\Dispatcher\_Controller->execute() #10 /home/**/public/index.php(13): IPS\_Dispatcher->run() #11 {main}
  21. It could be an option but don't fancy doing that each time, plus in general I wouldn't want my site to be 10-15 minutes behind for guests even during normal periods.
  22. Sounds like it'd be expensive, not something I need to solve spikes that happen 5/6 times a year at most
  23. I tried it and it was no good, during that busy time of 30 minutes to an hour, 99.9% of visitors will be viewing the one topic where the latest posts need to be available. It worked with guest page caching set as 30 seconds even those it was advised against, it helped the server cope compared to now without it. Whats a load balanced server?
