I want a feature where can can smell IPB. Of course it'll have to have some sort of hardware either new or pre-existing to do this. There should be way to smell people flaming each other, a pleasant scent for new members who are thinking about joining a forum, and the smell of success when a user reaches a certain post count.

I for sure want thread/gallery tagging. You could just make them a regular moderator?

The mod/skin resource area has a link called corporate in the top left that sends me to a 404 page.

If IPS had a real CMS product, would we no longer be able to mention or link to other CMS software like Wordpress, etc?

That's true with many things in life. You have to show support and tell the person that you like their work.

If you want to know where to place something like Adsense, you can make a quick thread in the support forum. That way you get it exactly where you want it.

You don't need to be code savvy to copy paste something between two areas. =p There's all sorts of ad services out there, so I would think IPS would want something that isn't exclusive to one.

I thought one could use the topic/post icons of 2.3.6 as a topic prefix like feature.

Of all the forums (which is a many hundreds by now) that I've joined, almost none that offered joinable groups or social groups used them well or at all. There's maybe one example that did, but they could do a better job of making member know it exists... So personally I'm not a fan of adding a feature which most forums won't use. Considering there is some demand for it, I'm sure someone will make a mod or something. That "other" software has it built in and makes such a big deal about it, but I don't understand why.

Linking out is natural and is helpful to users of a site, especially on forums. Surely you'd want sites to give you a link back for your good content. Sites like Wikipedia and Youtube use it because they don't know how to prevent spamming or how to enforce their rules effectively. Putting nofollow still doesn't even prevent spam well enough against spam scripts...they just go to the next place. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/nofollow-is-dying-the-impact-of-microblogging-and-nofollow-on-seo You should prevent spammy links by actually preventing it.

rel="nofollow" is for the greedy and those who can't fight spam.

Many large forums I'm sure may have large ban lists. The ban controls should have a note area saying why they're banned. Then that message could show to the banned user. I think in most situations the banned user knows why they're banned.

Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. Even though it doesn't effect me, I think it's good for IPS to think of the bigger boards.
