    My general plan:
Update any plugins that work with 4.3/4.4 both at any time before. Deactivate the site. Disable 4.3-only plugins that need updated. Update the site's core software to 4.4. Update the 4.4-only plugins you deactivated in step 3. Leave them deactivated. Activate them one at a time to test. Reactivate the site for non-admins after you've confirmed all is up and running. There's a backup in there too.

and thanks for the kind words:)
I know that some are disappointed by the delay, believe me, I'm too.. But it's a major upgrade, where all medal records are going to be replaced with trophies , which needs proper testing. Nobody wants to see a medal and the member data getting lost .

I don't think you fully comprehend what's going on here.... The bot is attempting to access a FILE that lives on your server.  Should that file be found, IPS would be none the wiser because your SERVER would deliver the requested file before IPS knew of the request.  The ONLY reason you're seeing these errors is because the file WAS NOT found and the IPS .htaccess rewrites are funneling the unfulfilled requests into the IPS software.  Where IPS proceeds to log the error you see.
This has to be handled at the SERVER level.  You simply can't ask IPS to manage file access on your server for you when the only reason they are seeing the requests is because they failed in the first place.
Being on a shared host, you're going to be at the mercy of what the hosting company will install on their servers.  This is a common thing that happens every day all day.... If you have a server with SSH open on port 22, you better believe that some bot is attempting to log into it at least once every few seconds.  fail2ban is a wonderful tool there.  What you're experiencing isn't any different.  A bot is attempting, for lack of a better term, to brute force finding files by specific names.  Any backups you take, don't put them in a web-accessible area on the server, and don't leave them there longer than necessary.
Now, these logs are stored in the IPS DB.  You can certainly write your own CRON job that will auto-fill an .htaccess ip deny file to stop these bots at the SERVER level. Because thinking IPS can block them, should the bot guess a valid file name, is simply wrong.  It'd be an extremely false sense of security.

Yes it will be great to have something like that for IPB. Cause, when we are on a share hosting, we can not do what we want on the server side. fail2ban and other can not be added.

I have a same problem. The only way at this time is to block this IP in htaccess but every day there is a new bot with another ip address
    so it's tiring ..: /

Great idea. Something like this http://www.site-scanners.com/smart-404-security-blocking-addon/

    Hi,
Every day I get some IP¨address who try lot of things like that :

I think it will be good if we can configure some filter. If any address IP get more than 10 error code in 1 minute, she had to be ban directly for 1 week or something like that.
I know there is CDN who can help for that, but I think it will be good to have it on IPB.

Here is an example (add it to custom.css file of your theme):
    /*** Attach Mobile Nav to Bottom ***/ #elMobileNav { position: fixed; bottom: 0; width: 100%; z-index: 5049; border-top: 1px solid #808080; } /* Increase body length in order to not overlap footer elements */ body.ipsApp_front { padding-bottom: 50px; } /* Prevent from overlapping by lang switcher */ ul#elNavLang_menu, ul#elNavTheme_menu { z-index: 5048 !important; } /* Prevent from overlapping by notification popups */ #elFlashMessage.ipsFlashMsg_bottom { bottom:50px; } #elFlashMessage.ipsFlashMsg_dismissable [data-action='dismissFlashMessage'] { right: 10px; } It may also require some additional cosmetic tuning for your theme.
It shouldn't be hard but i don't plan to implement this because in my experience this behaviour could be unobvious and annoying for inexperienced users.

Fixed docking is enough in my opinion.

I think it will be better to have the header bar (menu, notifications) in a sticky header.
Like that we don't have to scroll scroll scroll to the top to go to our notification or menu. Mobile need that more than desktop.

I'd rather suggest to dock it to the bottom of the screen on mobile, as many mobile apps does.
Here is an example how i implemented this on one of my websites a while ago.
This way you can access breadcrumb button, quick links and notifications right under your finger even while holding a big mobile with one hand.

    1. I applaud you for starting an IPS 5.0 feedback topic before me.  Props to you.
    2. Customizable homepage - no.  I want to control the display and presentation (and I will admit, the ad placement because I'm a greedy admin farming my user's data.  Take that GDPR!).
-- 2a. I'm okay with personalizing the content on the page. For eaxmple, pushing content from followers or prioritizing popular content for more interesting and relevant content.  But not the overall layout.
-- 2b.  If this were Blogs or Profiles that are tied to the user, I could understand.  Those are "individual spaces"in the where it makes sense to give more design control.  But again, not the homepage which is a community homepage.
4.4. See how I skipped to this number.  IPS is taking it's sweet time.
