Yes, that's exactly what I just experienced. Thanks for your description.
Yes, in my articles DB. As I'm editing an article, I keep saving it and further editing. If I click a notification while I'm editing, then going back shows me the editor with the last version I had saved, but all the editing I had done since is lost.

@Daniel F indeed, my fault. It works only if you do not save.
If you save the article and then start to edit, you will lose all the changes if you do not save them (pressing Save button). So, yes, the editor keeps the new unsaved content. But there is no warning if you're editing. You can add tons of content to the already saved article. Then “accidentally” click somewhere else, all the changes and edits are lost.

Instead of deleting a topic, I would recommend replying with the solution you found. There are no embarrassing questions when building a help community 🙂 .

Google says: "Deprecated APIs are scheduled to be removed from Chrome." Will you beat this removal date, and do you know what that date actually is?

If so, Ending with 100% of users by the end of Q3 2024
Assuming that means anyone on v4 won't be able to use Chrome after the deprecation?

I don't know what the schedule is for v5, but it seems to me that some sort of patch might be needed here for v4, as this is ~6 months away. It's hard for me to believe that v5 will come out with enough time for everyone to get upgraded by then.

This sounds very strange - you are developing a very successful product - fact. But you use a third party javascript that changes the results of your work...And you don't reduce the value of your product when it degrades in use...
Why not create a complete set of just your product…
There is a Bulgarian proverb - but it's untranslatable to write it to you, and it sounds vulgar... But it's strange to me - issues with libraries constantly arise, and not just now, and you justify yourself with them, but you don't trying to make your libraries compliant with the new web criteria - and manageable by you...

So if I understand your response, perhaps my site won't function properly for 30-50% of Chrome users by the end of this year, and 100% one year from now, if you don't fix this issue in time?

Let me be skeptical... I became your customer when version 4.0.x launched with similar promises... That was 9 years ago... Now you are promising a change with version 5.x.x... I'm not sure that will happen I'm...I'm sorry...

Thank you for your feedback on the product. Quite often people will post feedback only to say what they dislike or what to change on a product, while remaining quiet if content. Thats fine. Its just the way of the world 🙂 So its nice to hear details on why someone likes the direction we have been taking

SoloInter reacted to annadaa in IPS usage feedback
I initially used IPB around 2010, then again about 5 years ago, more for fun. However, I continued to follow the evolution of IPS and today, I am starting a serious and monetized project with a community.
Currently, in rebuilding a site with IPS, I am noticing significant progress from the team. The introduction of a gamification system, improved ergonomics, push notifications, and the recruitment of Ehren are major advances to stay at the forefront of UI and UX design, as well as for PWA integration.
In the past, with IPB 4, we had grievances regarding the design, mobile navigation, and the absence of a dedicated app. These issues are now resolved, eliminating any hesitation to stay on this platform rather than looking for another to manage a community.
Regarding the marketplace, I remain optimistic, convinced that even without development expertise, the decisions made by IPS aim to improve and accelerate the product's evolution, while reducing bugs.
This contrasts with WordPress and its vast user base, where major changes are risky and can hinder development due to the many interferences between applications and updates.
Despite debates on the number of user applications available on IPS, the possibility to install applications remains, ensuring their availability for a few more years since they have not been completely removed.
There are aspects that we must accept and adapt to.
Apart from the absence of an Elementor-type editor, available on WordPress, I do not perceive a significant gap in IPS's current offering. This feature, although not urgent, could be added to enrich content management without impacting the ability to maintain a community.
I believe we must stop seeing IPS solely in terms of forum installation, but more so today in terms of member and group management, as well as interaction between them. So even if forum participation may decrease, there are still many possibilities to use that can facilitate support, interaction, and individual tracking within the community.
That's why I hope the upcoming products will allow for better online meetings directly on the site, live quizzes, coaching, personalized assistance, interaction within clubs, etc.
Unfortunately, and maybe I'm wrong, IPS is not used and known to the extent that it should be despite being a very stable product. Many turn towards WordPress filled with plugins from different builders (thus bugs), and to try to build a community, which IPS already does in its core with group and member management and is surely less expensive when adding an app for gamification, another for the community, etc.

    Hi all,
Next week we plan on releasing a few blogs outlining what development looks like for Invision Community v5.
I was curious as to what changes you'd like to see, and what changes do you think are coming?

Thank you, and yes I saw that, however I'm curious to hear what the "more" part is - to determine if it's worth a $80/month upgrade from my current plan.

Thanks, @Nathan Explosion. I saw that way back when; I expect that @David N. has seen it too. We both (and he in particular) require more detailed information: a list of actual functions (example installations would be even better).
@David N. I could find no detailed notes. One of our team (who is very experienced in using and managing LMSs) tested out the nobbled version; her impression at the time:
She got no further with it the next day.

Would love a chat box like the one used in Live Topics, but just as an independent block we can place on a page.   Otherwise is looks like a lot of nice changes!

You won't be able to place ads anywhere on the Live Topics UI. The advertisement system has had an update for v5, but I don't think we've spoken about it much.

I think I spent more time making up fake adverts than writing about it.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.

I don't believe in this instance that's the case. I believe it has more to do with all the garbage SEO content taking over search and it's getting even worse due to AI. As it continues to get tougher to distinguish between AI content and human content, first-hand experience and demonstration of real knowledge are becoming more of a focus in Google.
A Google Engineer has been advising on how to improve and better position forum content in search since March. Recently Google's been actively showing more 'Perspectives' content on mobile as well as highlighting Discussions and Forums. Until now, most of those results have been from Reddit and Quora. These changes should help showcase more variety.
    Engineer's Quote:
"And most importantly, thanks for making changes. It heartens me to see forum platforms moving to expose their content better. I really would like to see this content more in search results rather than low quality, over-optimized rehash articles."
I work for a publisher that is investing heavily in AI. I see it across many other publishers as well and it's only going to continue to ramp up. I hate the direction publishers are heading in and if Google doesn't get ahead of it, searchers aren't going to be able to trust any of the results Google delivers. There's a reason so many people add 'Reddit' to the end of their searches now.
User-generated content and real-life experience are becoming more and more important.

We can provide the tools and you can decide how to use them. Google taking forum content seriously after years of "user generated content" being rated down can only be a good thing overall.
