New: Editor Uploading

This entry is about our IPS Community Suite 4.2 release

IPS Community Suite has supported drag and drop uploading to the attachments area at the bottom of the editor since 4.0. In 4.2 we're pleased to add the ability to drag and drop right into the editor, so you can drop your attachment exactly where you want it to show without having to add it afterwards.

If your browser and OS supports it you can also copy and paste, either from the desktop or from other content on the web:

Naturally this works for ordinary files as well as images:

This is really cool

Feature for mathematical equation - latex will be highly appreciated

I replied to your post in the presales forum (don't know if the post was approved yet or not), but there are plugins for CKEditor (which is what the Editor in IPS is based on) for latex and other mathematical functions. I believe they can be integrated into the Editor on IPS just like they can if you use CKEditor standalone.

Thanks - let me check or wait for the approval...

The problem is with third party.. sometime it will not be compatible.. with different versions...as we get new upgrades .. there are always chances... of  break down ...

Then which plugin is better is again a question.....

This feature addon can give a new market to IPS for education  purpose...

Could this work for dragging YouTube link or Bookmark link to embed the link in the post?

That is, can I use this new editor feature to embed links as well as files?

That works already.

That is true, but for every CKEditor plugin there is a compatibility chart at the bottom of the screen which tells you what button version to download for your version of CKEditor you have (the Add Button dialog window tells you your version of CKEditor).  I think their plugins will be around for a while :)

Back on topic: great idea, IPS! :)

I have a question re: the current supported versions of PHP and MySQL and the up and coming 4.2 suite.

Will there need to be any upgrades to either of these current supported versions of PHP and MySQL before upgrading to 4.2?

Thank you, I'll take your answers off the air.

Our PHP / MySQL requirements have not changed (PHP 5.6 as a minimum - PHP7 or higher recommended, and MySQL 5.1 as a minimum with 5.6 or higher recommended).

This is a great step.

Now what would really get me excited is if video acted more like they do on Facebook, Twitter etc.... upload and VIEW.....rather than upload and VIEW A LINK to the video file I just uploaded.

just sayin'

......

I can just feel these forums catching up to social media......

Facebook is going down...

How can we buy stock in IPS, inc.?
