Invision Community 4.2

Here is the roundup of what's new in Invision Community 4.2!

Highlights

There's a lot of new feature in 4.2 but here are a few of the highlights:

Promoting ContentA new way to promote content in your Community internally, on Facebook, and on Twitter.

ClubsClubs are a brand new way of supporting sub-communities within your site. Many people have requested social group functionality in the past and Clubs are our implementation of this concept.

ReactionsOffer more fine-grained sentiments towards content than a simple up/down or 'like'. They are now in common usage on social networks, and so users expect to be able to be more nuanced in their response to something they see.

Complete Your ProfileEncourage or require members to fill out the details on their profile. Also now allows for quick registration to encourage joining.

And a whole lot more..

It goes on... here is the full list!

Be sure to visit each entry above for more information and screenshots. We hope you enjoy Invision Community 4.2!

My upgrade via ACP from 4.19.4 -> 4.2.0 beta 2 failed and I've raised a support ticket for it. For reference, my error was:

Call to undefined method IPS\Image::canWriteText()

Didn't have the issue with the alpha release upgrades but they were never via ACP->check for for updates.

This indicates a file is out of date, and the full file package needs to be reuploaded (specifically in this case, system/Image/Image.php needs to be reuploaded, but anytime a single file is not updated I recommend reuploading the full package).

I downloaded the full source package, uploaded the files and went to the /admin location where I get the message: "The files for version 4.2.0 Beta 3 are present but the upgrade has not been completed." Clicking on upgrade now take me to Step 2: Unfinished Upgrade with the options to "Continue Upgrade" or "Start Fresh Upgrade". Clicking on "Continue Upgrade" take me immediately to Step 7:Upgrade  where it shows a progress bar (that doesn't advance over time) and reads: "Adding clubs menu item"

Then I have to start all over...

Selecting "Start Fresh Upgrade" brings up a bunch of SQL errors about tables that exist or are missing. The only way forward is to select "continue" where it ends up at "adding clubs menu item - Please wait while we transfer you..." and an indefinite loop.

Same issue upgrading from 4.19.4 via ACP. Nothing in the error logs.

I've raised a support ticket for mine.

Wow, I cannot wait to upgrade... :)

Me too, I'll be able to make a club as a support group for members who can't find the Downloads cart and they'll be able to make 'nuanced' smiley faced replies while reorganising the forum into grid, list or topic view.  The best bit is they'll have to complete their profile while enjoying leaderboard enhancements as I try to think of a reply that doesn't sound like it's never going to happen....note: you may need to expand on the 'reaction' icons.

I've raised a ticket for this but wanted to see if anyone else can replicate this issue.

Add a custom WYSIWYG block via the sidebar edit tool. Edit the block but only put in a short line of source code and no other content like:

<div class="test-block"></div>

And hit save. Go back into the block and click on source, is the above still there or was it removed on save? On my test site it removes it on save which is annoying as I am trying to test the Chatwee integration which uses a similar code block.

This is not clear to me. When does summer begin in your country ? (in the place where I live, we only have summer and winter)

Summer is generally accepted to be June-Aug here, however note that "Summer 2017" is intended to be generalized and not indicate a specific time/date. :)
