4.5: Your new admin control panel

Invision Community has come a long way over the past five years.

We've added many new features and invigorated the front-end user experience to keep it current and in-line with modern interfaces.

One area that has remained largely the same is the Admin Control Panel.

When we released Invision Community 4.0 back in 2014, the Admin Control Panel was updated but has stayed relatively dormant since.

But that's all about to change with the upcoming release of Invision Community 4.5!

The Admin Control Panel in 4.5 has received a substantial update, resulting in a modern color scheme and a clean, minimalistic design.

We felt that a lighter, more open design allowed the content more space and to feel less crowded.

The dark grays have been replaced with shades of blue and aqua which closely reflects Invision Community's new branding, while other colors have been lightened and saturated.

Along with the new color scheme, the overall layout of the ACP has intentionally been kept similar to the existing version, resulting in a design that feels surprisingly familiar yet refreshingly new at the same time.

We hope you've enjoyed this small sneak peek into Invision Community 4.5 and we look forward to introducing you to some more new features in the upcoming weeks!

Too bright, too white, prefer the current theme tbh.

I would say that but you know... "here comes Adriano again..."

😄

EDIT: starting to worry with possible changes in front-end theme. 🥴

So... is there more to the ACP update in 4.5? Or is the "substantial update" primarily new colors?

Share the dark side! 🙂

PS I see referred by Matt!! - Looks like some referral stuff, kicking in? Would be nice to have dynamic signatures generator for each member so that they can use same on other sites and/or promotions and/or personalized signature based on variable things.

As someone once said... 'If it ain't broke, don't try fix it'.

This just seems like change for change sake, and certainly wasn't one of the things which was on my mind when it came to improvements that could have been made to the suite overall.

This is not meant as a criticism, more an observation. 🙂

I really think not having a 'honors OS theme setting' is a misstep here - honoring dark mode or having a dark mode is almost a must-have these days. Will this be an optional skin and the 4.4 ACP skin will still work?

I don't mind progress, but as others have said, perhaps other areas in need of improvement should have gotten more attention than an ACP theme change I don't think anybody asked for...?

I think it is just a beginning. It is like a good film, they start slowly with some "unimportant" features, then rise suspense, tension and BUM BUM BUM!!! At the end we have powerful reveal and are happy to have watched it to the end.

I think I like what you've done with the place! The lighter blue shades will be a fresh breeze, but the donut chart colours are so miserable and bland looking!

Using an iPad most of the time, the current AdminCP is often very cramped, so thanks for picking up on that. It drives me nuts editing code in editors that are displayed half way off screen to the right, with lots of blank white space on the left unused between the collapsed side menu and the code editor.

I'm also not seeing Font Awesome 5, a bit concerning!

Perhaps it is too bright, personally I work through the night a lot in a darkened room and the current theme is already bright enough, too bright actually, because when you switch back to IPS AdminCP from an app or site with a good night mode, it blows your eyeballs out of the back of your head!
