4.5: Page Builder Widgets

Invision Community introduced drag and drop widgets many years ago. These widgets allowed anyone to add blocks to existing views, and to build up entirely new pages.

These widgets were great for quickly adding content to a page, but they weren't incredibly customizable.

For Invision Community 4.5, we've added three new Page Builder widgets which allow you a little more control.

For an overview of this new feature, please take a look at the video below.

As you can see, these new widgets offer a lot of customization without the need to code any CSS or HTML. You can add background colours and images, adjust padding and borders and even add colour overlays right from the widget menu.

Blandness be gone! Now you can let your creativity loose on your pages and all other views that have the drag and drop zones.

I'd love to know what you think of this new feature; please let me know below!

@Matt not a fact about red squirrels, but if you are ever up in the North West of England, just north of Liverpool is a place called Formby.  I lived there as a kid many years ago, but it has a wonderful red squirrel sanctuary.  If you, the wife and kids are ever up that neck of the woods, I would recommend it on a fair weathered day :)

Additionally, WYSIWYG Blocks have now been made translatable, so you can now create WYSIWYG blocks that will display their content in specific languages.

@Matt I forgot to ask this one very important question. Does this update allows us to compose individual pages for each separate forums? What I'm trying to ask is for example can I place one set of widgets in one forum category and in other category another set of widgets? Instead of everything being universal in 4.4 where once you place a widget it is shown in every possible page which uses this layout/path/app/whatever?

I think this is possible via template logic, there was actually guide about it around. But it can get tedious for many forums and many widgets.

I really like building custom pages. The one thing I'm  lost at is how to, like this page has, add the option to comment on the above article. Any idea's where I can find guidance on that?

@Matt looks great, but I'm equally interested in options in the Visibility tab. I've been waiting for these two:

  1. Show only for these groups...
  2. Must be logged in (on/off; show/hide whether a member is logged in or not)
