QOTW: What is the one thing you'd like to do in life, but haven't got around to yet?

What is the one thing you'd like to do in life, but haven't got around to yet?
This week, we get introspective and look at the things we'd love to do but haven't found the time to do yet.

I've traveled a little bit, but there are still many many places I'd like to visit. Something tells me I'll need to wait for some of the kids to get older and move out first however.

Take a vacation in Hawaii, as that will complete a goal I set in my youth: Visit all 50 States of the US.
Have vacationed, usually camping, in 49 of them so far.

We have always said one day we will meet up, and thats something I certainly intend to do one day, but havent gotten around to it.

I've always wanted to write a book though. In my early teens I used to spend time in front of a mechanical typewriter (through choice, I'm not THAT old) and knocked out a few short stories. They were awful, obviously, but I do love the written word and have a few stories I'd like to get down.

I’ve never really focused on either though. I would definitely like to get around to becoming a proficient speaker in at least one other non native language.

Since I get to work from home I often get a niggling feeling that I could be doing this anywhere in the world rather than in my little office in Colchester. I've made some strides in that direction this year: I spent New Years Eve in Sydney, a somewhat interesting series of events led me to spend some time in Washington DC (but that's a story for another time), plus I visited Berlin and Krakow. 4 countries in one year isn't too bad I think, hopefully next year I can break it though!

I would really love to spent my whole retirement on a sailing ship cruising around the world till i get bankrupt!

I've been to USA many times. There are many places on the list I'd like to go at some point like Peru (Machu Picchu), Austraila, Dubai, Indonesia, Bali... Endless list really. A more realistic answer would be to finish some of my project cars that have been sat in a barn for years.

We'd love to hear what you would like to do, but don't have time for just yet. Let us know below!

Something tells me I'll need to wait for some of the kids to get older and move out first however.

Short story, I have 3 boys ages 26, 22 and 9. So my 2 oldest ones grew up and left home and the wife and I were in the clear. I was working for a major automotive paint manufacturer at the time and was offered a position being a advanced trouble shooting tech. That position required me to basically travel the US waaaaaay too much, diagnose and fix issues with the most coveted customers the company had. Basically, when we had a great big money spending customer about to leave over a issue they sent me in to save the day. So anyhow, I got called into the Chicagoe area a few weeks after my last boy 22 left home. I took the wife, we had too many drinks and before you know...as Brittney would say... Oooops, I did it again... Damn... That was short lived freedom. Moral to this story is Brandon... Well, I don't know, just thought I'd mention this  :D

Since my youngest is 9 now, I have 9 more years to go... :D  But he's awesome and I wouldn't trade him for the world.. :)

Move to Slovenia or Croatia.

I've lived abroad before (two periods in France, one in Germany) but my much better half has never had that opportunity. Instead she's knuckled down, worked hard, and looks set to be mortgage-free by the time she's 37. She's also very good at Croatian, having started to learn it four or five years ago. She watches their news programmes, laughs at all the right points in the comedy programmes she watches, and reads novels in the language quicker than I can in English.

What we've been speaking about recently is paying the mortgage off as soon as possible and then planning to have moved to either Croatia or Slovenia by the time she's 40. I'll be hoping to telecommute, she'll have earned the right to do anything she wants (even if that's nothing at all) after 20 years' doing a job she hates to provide for us, and we'll hopefully be able to make a bit of money renting out rooms, since we're planning on living in total isolation on top of a mountain or by a lake.

She was mad keen on writing until she moved in with me, so I'm hoping she'll use her free time over there to give it a go once more and see about potentially getting published. And I'm sure there would be local publishers interested in a native English speaker who could translate from Croatian or Slovenian.

The one catch is me finding a job where I can earn a bit of money by telecommuting. I've got six years to work on it :)

Edit:

From a purely personal point of view it probably would've been "get published" but I'm currently dealing with that one; the final manuscript is due in in December :)

I have 6 kids, my youngest daughter being 4 months old. It's like they just keep popping up out of the woodworks!

(I kid, my baby is precious and was completely planned)

At first I read this as: "We would love to hear you, but we (the staff) don't have time for you, yet", then I realized it actually meant "Tell us what you like to do, but you haven't got time for it yet".

The first phrase would sum up my life pretty well.
