Managing successful online communities

Test drive Invision Community 4.5

We started talking about Invision Community 4.5 way back in November of last year. Now, less than six months later, it's ready for you to test.

While we put the finishing touches to a few features, we have set up a preview site so you can test out the new features, leave your feedback and make a note of any bugs you spot.

Head over now to the Invision Community Alpha test site.

Please be aware that this test site is running in 'development mode' so it is automatically updated with the latest fixes throughout the day. This means it has to work extra hard on each click as there are no caches, pre-built languages or templates to use, so it will be a lot slower than a production version. So please don't worry about it being a touch slow, and definitely don't try and run Page Speed analysis tools on the alpha site!

You can read about the headline features over in our product updates blog.

Let us know what you think!

Nice.

Comment about the calendar. Wish that you had created recurring events as separate instances. If it's an event that repeats, comments or rsvp's  get carried forward.

Some feature requests:

  • be able to set rights for attaching files in each forum and each articles category and member groups.
  • ability to set the compression settings depending on who is attaching an image (for instance, administrators full quality and members 0.5 compression).

I couldn't find 'mass selection' of spammers for deletion in Admin area. Have I missed it? At present I am deleting one by one which is time consuming, check box or select all on page would be helpful.

How would you find it, is 4.5 available to download and test? How are you accessing the ACP on 4.5?

Stop everything, you are doing it wrong ! you are wasting your time !

All of the users of forums are on mobile now ! we need an android/ios app as soon as possible to keep the users on forums, if not, we are losing users, users will use Facebook app and Facebook groups !!

ok, 95% are on mobile now. 😁

Mobile App: Announced last year, this is not a topic which popped up last year from nowhere and noone could imagine that a mobile app would play such a small role.. 🤣😬

They are trying to loosen up the refinement and making it look less formal. This is a matter personal preference. Thats the reason ( and I have mentioned this before ) why companies offer Themes.

Here is one good example https://themes.shopify.com/themes?industry=furniture of how the interface is catogorised for varoius industries like Clothing, Jewellery, Furniture etc. The one size fits all policy doesnt work in any industry. While the MySql remains the same, PHP scripting is all that needs to be changed to tailor fit the clients needs.

'IP has stopped listening' has been mentioned in many forums. Lets see if they listen to this theme feedback. If you ask me 4.4 is just perfect.  If it an'nt broken why fix it.

Wrong.

It's not me who says that ! it's Google Analytics of my websites !!

You can ask every webmaster here to check their Google Analytics account and they will say the same !

Ok may be a new theme is important. But an andoid/ios app is a must have !! especially for the active users of the forums ! and we all know that active users are the most important thing for a forum to live !!
