  2. As the functionality stands now you get a running list of Stock Replies that you have to scroll through to "hopefully find one that is appropriate for the area you are in currently. It would be nice if IPS created categories that you populate in the ACP and then choose on the front end to find a set of Stock Replies pertinent to a particular use case. Once you click on a category it would bring up a list of relevant Stock Replies you could choose from. Access to each category would be set in the ACP and would only appear on the frontend if the user had the appropriate permission.

I actually like it. I hope they do it more... like a hundred times. 😄

Looks nice 🙂 Any plans to add a search to that select in the future? I can imagine some people (like me) probably will have quite a few of those 🙂

  5. Just tested and it is like I said: the button STOCK REPLIES will only appear after you add at least one stock reply:

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Hello Dears It's great to have an almost certain timeline for future releases, as I've already discussed with Jordan. For example, we now know that version 4.6.7 is scheduled to be released in the first half of October. Or, for example, we implicitly know that version 4.7.0 is scheduled to be released on Jordan's birthday on 2022.4.7! 🎉 If there is a sidebar widget (or any other better idea) on the forums page that indicates the release date of newer versions, it would be great, and community leaders can plan for that. For example, pay attention to this design (sidebar widget) : Thanks for reading, Sajjad. 😉

Is there a way it can be even more personalised by detecting the username from the original topic? [USERNAME], thanks for your reply. <then insert the stock reply>

  13. Hello, Community I have been using this forum system since 2013, never before have I seen something so well developed with some characteristics that make it one of the best platforms to create a forum community. For some time now, I have taken my time to offer the Spanish language to the community, since it is something that many Spanish-speaking people want, and I will continue to strive to offer them the Spanish language. About President Charles I send you a big hug from Spain for continuing at the foot of your great work of Invision Communities. Without further ado I hope to continue enjoying the characteristics of its forum system and add-ons and functions that make it, as I will always say, the best in the market. Greetings

  14. Put the following in your constants.php file (or create one). <?php \define('USE_DEVELOPMENT_BUILDS','TRUE'); Navigate to "Applications" in your ACP and click on "Check for Updates". You should see a banner show up alerting you of the existence of beta releases. You can upgrade your board (or not) as you wish. To remove prompting for betas you simply replace "TRUE" with "FALSE" or delete that line from your constants.php file. As with any release please do a complete backup of your site as there is a possibility that the upgrade will encounter an issue. If you do encounter an issue you can always restore from backup and wait for the next beta or full release.

Great feature! But it would be even more awesome if members could use their own stock replies. Club owners, Marketplace creators and regular users might want to create, edit and use their own personalized messages. Would it be possible in the future? Thanks a lot!

What if people want to buy it for their 4.4 or 4.5 installation? It's the only way people on older version can have this function. I see no need to remove it NOW. I understand it sucks with the price-change news and all but don't let all that get to you. BTW you have done TONS of mods, some of which really seem that should be in IPS as core functions. You can't expect that one day these will not be implemented into IPS by the company. Instead focus on making and improving other great mods which are unlikely to be picked up by IPS: like quizzes, jobs and many others. 😉 stay positive 🙂

  23. It would be really cool if you could save a search as a stream, aka I could search for "hump day" 😉 then create a stream which I could subscribe to keeping up to date with the results either on the site, rss or email digest. I understand this might possibly be a little heavy for mysql searching but it could be a feature that required elastic or at least disabled by default.

  24. Curious if the there is a warm up or hart beat after the stream decay has happened. Say if the member is in a 'decayed' state and they aren't getting regular emails send them a reminder encourage them to reengage with the site?

    4.4: Animated GIFs

Can we please support Tenor instead of Giphy? It seems to have more GIFs available.

  26. To enable the use of stock replies you are prompted through a series of configuration steps. The first step being to add a button to the small, medium and large toolbars. I'm stuck on this step as I don't see a button that jumps out at me as being the one to choose. What seems obvious to IPS developers and even you my fine friend aren't always obvious to me.

  27. Didn’t test yet. Probably you need to add the stock replies first? Also go to the Toolbars menu and add the button.

  28. Could someone please provide a clue as to where to find the button to add to the editor. I hovered over each of the buttons not on the editor and none of them seemed to be a match.

How safe are the Betas to run? Do you have to manually upload them, or can the upgrader be used? Also do you release many betas or skip directly to release, or it that based off if errors are reported? Do the betas typically run for a few weeks before final release or are the typically fast? Just trying to decided if I should move over, since it looks like it has some fixes I might be interested in.

Ok now that I see this in action - wow it's fantastic. ( give us an inch we'll want a mile ) I could really see the need for by GROUP allow individuals to customize their set of stock replies.

  33. Or more easily achieved - Jordan uses the tag system to tag the topics as "Hump day" and you use existing stream functionality.

  36. I am using the category tool (it isn't perfect by a long shot, eg the forum structure of invision is far superior), it's more the exclusivity I'm personally interested in. Kind of got a red club vs blue club situation that I want to foster.

  37. We are always open to suggestions :] Also nice suggestions. I believe there's a plugin in the Market Place that can help you out with the categorizing if you're looking for a solution stat!

  38. Good idea! 🙂 In my case, I would use it but only for chosen forums [not globally]. For forums like news, feedback, contacting the mods I find it useful. But for Chit-Chat-like forum it would be unnecessary. Thanksfully we can set in CSS where to display the badge and where to hide it. 🙂

  39. I got involved with forums soon after I got married (in 2003). My husband had a job with extremely late hours, we had no kids yet, and I was home from my own job by 6:00 and very, VERY bored. My husband is an avid fan of the New York Yankees, and really wanted me to join him at the games, so I started to learn a little more about baseball. I wanted to sound halfway intelligent, so I began spending time on the YES Network forums to see what other fans were saying. (Solid choice, Esther, hang around with crazy trolls. Excellent decision-making skills.) After a couple of months there, one of the more active members decided he was fed up with the sheer number of trolls and total lack of moderation - there was 1 moderator for nearly 1 million members. This guy was asking around to see if anyone could help him get the site up and running. As I mentioned, I was VERY bored, so I figured I'd do it. The site was running IPB 2.2, and I started poking around and learning how to customize things. Taught myself PHP by implementing the modifications, then started making my own. Our site ran for nearly 5 years (and was really popular) before we had to shut it down simply because we had no time to run it. By then I was distributing my own minor modifications and doing really small custom pieces. In 2010, I quit my job to go out on my own and do this full time. I love this job. I love that my customers never ever want the same things twice, I love that nearly anything is possible with IPS. I'm really enjoying watching the framework "grow up", so to speak.
