  1. Let me just say that I had given up on this app until just now, when I saw that Adriano had taken it over. Yay! I can install and use it with confidence now. 🙂

  3. As the title suggests, if I restrict a member from posting for 30 days that should also restrict them from reacting to posts, or at least have an option to disable. Had a couple of members now taking their frustration out by trolling the moderators with reactions following their temporary restrictions. Work around has been to move them into different groups where they can make 0 reactions a day, but would be nice as I say to have that as an option.

What does it do? This app log 5 extra actions of your members and it will display them in their history logs at the Admin Panel and on a new page. The extra actions are as follow. 1. Searching Keywords Whenever a member will search for something in your forum, the keyword/phrase will be logged and displayed on their member history. This can come in handy imo, as it will show you what your members are looking for, so you can make adjustements/changes accordingly to attract more members and get better results. 2. Ignoring Members Whenever a member will ignore someone, it will be logged and displayed on their member history. 3) Profile Viewing Whenever a member will view someone 's profile, it will be logged and displayed on their member history. 4) Forum Viewing Whenever a member will visit a forum, their visit will be logged and displayed on their member history. 5) Topic Viewing Whenever a member will visit a topic their visit will be logged and displayed on their member history. Visits to own topics are not logged. Logs The above mentioned extra member history logs will be displayed on a new page in the Admin Panel->Members->Extra History Logs. These logs can be searched for member names and time frame. They can also be filtered based on each action. Note: All these extra actions mentioned above, will be logged and displayed on members history from the time that the app is installed.

  8. Community sharing is community caring. Take it from me: prominently curating your members’ content will profoundly accelerate growth. It’s also pretty darn fun. I’ve run my company, BreatheHeavy, since 2004. While many online businesses shuttered because of social media’s looming presence, mine thrived because of the community. Full disclosure? I had no idea creating a community back in 2004 would become the not-so-secret ingredient to staying alive. Ahh, if only I knew then what I know now. Hindsight is 20/20 (that number gives me anxiety, am I right?), but I never fully understood or appreciated how immensely game-changing community building is. Related: The Importance of Moderation, err... Community Guidance (New Video!) In the past, I focused my efforts on writing news articles (in Wordpress) while my Invision Community community ran rampant. I felt my presence needed to take center stage. That cast a shadow on my community and thus my members. I unintentionally muted their voices by exclusively promoting mine. That was a colossal mistake, but the greatest learning lesson. One year ago, I decided to pivot and shift all my energy towards fostering my community; the results were astounding! I saw more than a 100% increase in unique visits compared to the previous year. The most powerful change I made was shining a light on the content my members created. My website went from being a news site to a community. I constructed a new homepage that featured topics created by myself AND my members. This not only manifested a dynamic, constantly varied homepage, but also incentivized members to post thought-provoking and engaging topics in the hopes their content gets featured. In my community, topics that are featured on the homepage are considerably more viewed and commented on than topics that aren’t. I suspect you’d find similar results. Here’s how I set up my new homepage: I utilized Invision Community’s custom blocks feature. It’s available with the Pages application. I created a new block plugin, selected “topic feed” from the list, then set the permissions in the Feed Configuration tab to only show “featured” topics from members. I also used @opentype's SuperTopics plugin to give a more-polished look. Might sound a bit complex, but it’s rather intuitive. Community leaders can “feature” members’ content by selecting their topic and in the moderation panel, tap “Feature.” Our Picks “Featuring” content isn’t the only powerful tool Invision Community has baked into its software to highlight your members’ content. We’ve also carefully crafted a promotion option to manually select content that’s included on the “Our Picks” page and corresponding block. This is another powerful method to curate community content. We created a guide on how to set up promotion/our picks. With great power comes great responsibility The ability to “feature” content is a privilege only moderators in your community should have access to – at least in the beginning. Avoid giving any member the ability to freely feature their own content onto the homepage - instead, focus on manually curating the content. Be selective and choose what topics you want to represent your community. By creating a standard, your homepage won’t feature any and all content. Instead, it’ll display items you believe will pack the greatest punch. Featuring your members' content visibly shows your desire to embrace your community. It’s one thing to comment on members’ topics, it’s another to feature and promote them for all to see. That’s the secret sauce of curation. Do you agree? Disagree? Have any suggestions? Curate content in your own community? How many questions can I ask in a row? Drop us a line in the comments below!

  10. Just confirming that this is a frequent behavior for those on moderation approval or restricted from posting, especially if any of the reactions have a negative connotation. PM restrictions would be another good thing to consider here.

  22. Wow, thank you very much for responding. Apologies if my comment sounded aggressive, it was more meant toward the code than the team. I've been a customer for over 7 years and the team has been exceptionally kind and helpful. The problem is that it is confusing and unintuitive. Our customers may see the option to switch currencies, but they either do not feel the need to or do not know that by switching currencies they will see additional payment options. By the time they are at the checkout page with the payment options its too late for them to switch currencies or be aware that by doing so they will have more options. That is the biggest problem for us. If you would like any more information or have any more questions please feel free to ask, I will bookmark this thread and keep a better eye on it.

  27. Brilliant news to have Adriano take over the the support for this application. The application is really useful and now that it is getting well supported, people should have no hesitation. And now here is a feature request! (Sorry AF!!) For personal notes, how about a notification sound and also a little pop-up at the bottom of the screen to tell people that they've got a sticky note? It would be nice to have a notification sound which is different to the standard one used on the Board.

  40. I understand there's a separate permission, however I believe this data should not be shown without explicitly requesting it and logging that it was requested to be viewed. This should be an auditable activity. Someone that has this permission should not be able to see the answers of every person who has supplied those answers just by viewing the member record in ACP.

    Google Tag Manager

I agree, it should be part of IPS. For those unaware, Google Tag Manager requires code in HEAD and a noscript tag in BODY (immediately after the body tag). Most big boards use Tag Manager. I've seen a lot of smaller boards using Tag Manager. (Google Analytics is part of Tag Manager. If you have an Analytics account than you have access to Tag Manager.) Tag Manager is the BETTER option as it provides admins with more tools without the need to add more code to the site. eg. event tracking, conversions, remarketing, facebook pixel, etc I use Tag Manager for a number of things. It allows me to modify how a Bounce is counted in Analytics. Analytics now counts a bounce if USER leaves the page quickly (less than 1 minute). If more than 1 minute it doesn't count as a bounce. So instead of seeing bounce rates as high as 70% I see 10-29% bounce rates. This metric is now more useful to me. Why the change? Because most Users land on a page from Google or some other channel just to read the content on the page. Once they finish reading - they EXIT. It's only a problem if the content doesn't grab their attention. If they spend more than 1 minute on the page I know that they are actually reading (consuming information). This is a good thing. It tells me they are likely to come back. Now, when I see a high bounce rate I know the contents of the page needs attention, shouldn't be promoted, etc. eg. I use Bounce Rate to tell me if my homepage layout is working. At 10% Bounce rate with millions of sessions per week, I can say with confidence that it is.

I immediately bought this plugin as soon as it became available and it's another useful plugin by @Adriano Faria. This is a very helpful mod especially if your forums are a collection of items, and you need to quickly alphabetize and filter topics by letter. It's perfect for organization. One of my largest forums contains hundreds of topics over model items, and we use this mod to alphabetize the models. My superusers immediately jumped all over this mod to help them navigate inside these forums.

  44. This always seems to come back to Pages being quite a limited as a pagebuilder/sitebuilder whilst being powerful in terms of the IPS raw data integration, and whilst block widgets are useful, Pages is completely devoid of any nice template layouts out of the box, despite several years of template being hinted at. Thank god for Supergrid templates by Opentype! People talk of the Gutenberg update for Wordpress but half of users seem to really dislike it, myself included. Thankfully you can still opt out of it. It is honestly years behind the power and ease of use of Divi, which is the type of page/site builder Pages ideally needs to be for the majority of laymen and time-pressed but more technical admins familiar with html, css etc. One of the things I really love about Divi and why I think Pages needs to have this type of builder, is that although it's very powerful and constantly gaining new features every month or so, you can get such easy results really quickly, and it works on any theme if you just use the standalone Divi builder plug-in instead of the actual Divi Theme. Sections, Rows, Modules. Add a Section, choose a Row layout, then add from dozens of Modules into your Row. If it's a 2 block row, add 2 modules into each one, say an image and a rich text block or email newsletter sign up widget. So the layout above gives you a call to action module (grey) inside a Row (green) inside a Section (Blue) with 4 Blurb modules below in another Section and Row. You can add lots of rows all in 1 section if you want to. It looks like this on the front end Divi Visual Builder... Or using the main Divi Theme, which is nicely styled for a head start, just jump into the Divi Builder mode on any page, click a button to add a new draggable Section anywhere, click to add either a fixed or fullwidth Row within it, or maybe even a 2 block with sidebar layout Row, then select the Module aka feature or widget (text block, blurb, menu, full width slider etc) you want inside your row. Tweak the colours, maybe add a gradient, image or video background, use a slider to change the bottom padding or select a nicer shadow, all in seconds. Click Save at any time and your page is updated. https://www.elegantthemes.com/documentation/divi/visual-builder/ You can save then optionally your new section or feature into a library, for future re-use or to use through your site. But, the Divi designers have added some extra sauce... Take one of your saved library features you want to reuse on many pages, like a full-width header with image slider, and save it as a Global item in your Library. Now you can select or deselect the content (text/images) or the design aspects of your header you want to re-use when you add to multiple new pages. Because it's Global, you can quickly edit the text, images or style and it changes immediately throughout your site. Maybe use a featured image as a parallax background. Add a fade or easing option. Or perhaps assign dynamic text from a list of cms content, maybe a page or post title that's different on every page, to say the widgets H2 title. Now you have the benefit of a quickly changeable slider but the title text is updated automatically depending upon which page it's being used on. A site builder, not a page builder. All within minutes. Want to add some custom css, class, ID or code? No problem, just add it to your widget then save it or to the theme's custom css or html section. Anyway, I'd love to see Pages enhanced with a comprehensive Pagebuilder. There's no reason why Pages couldn't continue to be intergrated with the database side of things.
