    Regarding support: You are naturally well within your rights to not allow the author access to your community, either a login or filesystem access etc. However you must bear in mind that this will limit their ability to help you if they have a need for access. This is not dissimilar to say requesting 'official' support via the Client Area for say a Gallery problem but not providing any form of access to said site. Its obviously your call if you wish to allow the author or not, all I can say is as I've already put it does limit their options to assist without being able to 'see' the problem first hand. One option here is perhaps if you can duplicate this issue is to setup a 'test site' and when the issue is present there, provide access to that ?

  2. I am reasonably new to IPS after having my 14+ year old board converted 3-4 months ago. I have been experimenting with Member Group Permissions etc. One of the best features of IPS is the image Uploading function. The problem I am finding is Members are uploading huge video and photo files and sucking up board data. Of course I eventually set a max image upload to 4mb and max storage of 100mb for the Group able to upload. This is extremely generous given a photo of 200kbs is perfectly suitable for viewing. Problem is Members are so use to posting photos at places that have auto resizing, they simply don't know how to downsize or won't go to the trouble to downsize photos before uploading. Even at 4mb max, some Members only take and have photos above that in the 6mb range. The ease of uploading for them is now gone and downsizing photos has become what they consider a hassle, so they drift off....to places like Facebook... My point and wish is that IPS would program in an auto resizing function, so large image files would be downsized to a web friendly size upon upload and posting. That alone would solve a lot of data usage issues for Board Admins. What say?

    Using Haze as a test bed, and Tom tells me that all his themes are riff's on the same core theme so this should apply to all of them, here's what doesn't "worK" with KS: Unread Content and Mark Site Read links. In the default IPS theme they are in the breadcrumb. In these themes they've been moved. So the the toggle to turn them off won't work. You can add them to the user menu though (need to add a small css call to better format them there) and you can also just add css to display: none the links on the page itself if you do move them to the user menu. Might be "fixable" with some changes to KS. I'll look later. As exepcted, the follow button changes are a no go. They've been changed into a circle thing and moved. You can move the follow button to the comment control line where the other buttons live but all that does is add the follow template there, and since that is now a circle thing that is what appears there, and of course, KS can't remove the circle thing that already is there next to the title as it is no longer where it is exepcted to be to remove it. Create menu. All good except you need to add a line of css to change the icon size if you swap out the create menu line for an icon. That's it. The rest appears to be good to go. Here, userbar, no create menu at all (the pencil is for theme options), seps removed, user menu link just the user avatar. Might need a line of css to adjust the spacing on the right in this particular scenario. That's it though.

  5. Yes. This would be great to have. Rather than force users to resize an image, it would be better to have it done automatically. Not all forums are going to have members who will know how to resize images.

  6. Got it. Yes, that should work as expected. Understood, thanks. I'll look into it for the next update, but otherwise, unless you see something break, you can disregard the "DB errors" the support tool reports. The support tool is known (notorious) for misinterpreting the database schema, writing it one way and then reading it as something different, when it's actually the same. Evidently they changed something about it in 4.1.14, and this was a side effect.

  8. since the move to 4.1.x it seems that ACP has a more restrictive timeout of roughly 30min id like to be able to control the timeout settings through ACP settings in the future, for the time being; where can i modify currently imposed ACP timeout settings?

    No addons that I know of... @ehren. themes all feature a similar "mega footer", so you might want to look at his themes... Or, if you are adventurous with CSS, take a look at how IPS does it, and have a go at it yourself

  16. SHOW INDEXES FROM my_db.my_table WHERE Index_type='FULLTEXT'; Replace my_db with the database name and my_table with the table name, and run the query. if there are any results, the table has a fulltext index.

  19. That page only deals with the styling of the different email templates. To change the actual text you should use the translation system. You do this from Customziation -> Localization -> Languages. Just editing the default language pack will probably be fine. Click the globe icon on the right to start "translating" the language pack. There is a handy search field on the right you can use. Search for phrases or words you know is in the text to find the ones you'll need to translated. Be advised though that some text may be "scattered" around in more language strings than you would think and some language strings will also contain "special codes" that gets replaced with content like item titles. In this case you can use the email template section to help you find the keys for the strings you'll most likely want to translate too. I'm not exactly sure on the relevant template here, but if you go to edit "Registration validation" in ACP - Customization - Emails, then you can see some code like: {$email->language->addToStack("email_registration_validate", FALSE)} <br /><br /> <table width='100%' cellpadding='15' cellspacing='0' border='0' style='background: #f9f9f9;'> ... Here you can see a language string with the key email_registration_validate, and then it's just a matter of searching for that key in the translation section for the language.

  21. I've done it manually, and I quite like it @Joel R. Of course I'm not sure if clicking on this slider will update stats, doubt it, but the link works well. @onlyME, would be great if it linked into adverts and worked with stats etc. For me, the main thing would be that when adverts expired, they would automatically be removed from this slider. Whether that's possible or not, I'm loving this plugin. It's got much more potential than I realised.

    What version of IPB4 are you currently using? I'm currently working on a bug fixing round for all my apps, the News app being one of them. Nothing present now but I have been working on something similar for my Portal app, so will see if I can utilize the same code in the News app and include it in an upcoming release. Can you PM me a screenshot and will see what can be adjusted?

    I've just put together v3.1.13.1 that includes a fix for the above sql error. This was part of a custom request that I decided to include in the release if others found it useful. I guess some may not find any use for sending donation amounts from member to member but I have included permissions so the new feature can be disabled if not needed.

    Automation Rules does take some time to understand since it can be a fairly complex system, but within that complexity is a lot of power. The basics: - First define your award in iAwards. This means uploading the icon, writing the description. You need to do this first before you can actually trigger the award in Rules. - then define the rule in Automation Rule. This means writing the event, conditions, and actions which trigger the award. @Kevin Carwile

    Totally off topic. But I do think a Totalitarian vs Libertarian debate regarding the political leanings of certain plugins would be totally fascinating. Like iAwards by @-RAW- is such a capitalistic pig for grossly incenticizing performance, or Account Deletion by @Adriano Faria is totally like the Anarchists who can destroy society. Clearly a great political debate rages on in the Marketplace.

  30. You would think that if the option was off, the language for guests wouldn't even be displayed because 0 guests is not accurate. In fact, it's kind of misleading.

  32. Managed to get this fixed. I had updated to 4.14 using the automatic updater in the backend. After uploading all the files manually using FTP, this seemed to have fixed the issue.

We are 13 active chat users in the chat at this time - and it's very confusing if more then 2-3 people are chatting. So please add the ability to create seperated chat rooms. I don't want to know how confusing the chat would be with a 200 user license ... Thanks, Admon

  41. Yeah, that's nice if I wanted all embeds to be centered, but I'm looking for the option to do so via editor on a case by case basis depending on what the poster wants to do with it. I feel it should be something the editor is capable of as it does so with images (being able to left align, center, right align, or even float left or right).

    Would give it a five stars IF it would show the previous month instead of the current month. For example, my forum members vote for the member of the month at the end of January and that is for January's member of the month. Basically works a month behind. That isn't possible for this app at the moment. For this app, people vote for February's month during February, when the votes for feb are all in (at the end of the month) the member will be selected but not be shown in the widget during March. Is it possible to vote for the previous months member of the month, makes more sense, so for example, January is over but during January people voted that member X was the best member. I click on that member to make them Member of the month for January, during the month of February, January's member of the month will be show! Thanks for the app. Hopefully you can change it slightly.

  45. I have many event photos and few videos, so it's no sense for me to setup 3rd party Video modules. Videos uploaded on customers servers make a lot of headaches: bandwidth, space on the server, need to convert and compress videos before uploading (which reduces the quality). YouTube embedding is much more useful then current video uploading function in general.

  46. You *might* be able to do a php_value in .htaccess or a local php.ini file, depending on your host. I'd ask them the best way to increase it. Think of it like asking to increase your memory limit etc, as its just a php value after all.
