  3. please re-add it. some rely on it for wildcard and 2 to 3 letter acronym searches. works so much better than mysql

  4. Not exactly, as I said above you can create the same tag/prefix multiple times and color coordinate said tags and assign them per category so when a member does click the said tag it will only show relevant searches. Thinking harder on the subject you'd have to make each tag unique to prevent overflow.

  9. This isn't a know issue with IPS, it is however a known issue with microsoft mail servers blocking IP's of mail servers, please consult with your hosting provider, they can follow up with microsoft to see why it's blocked, and jump through a few hoops to get the block removed.

  11. I have. and I also have 2 letter acronyms, abbreviations, etc that sphinx handled well as well as faster updating (using crons) of the search database. sphinx is a search server. it works better for searching.

This plugin will display member's signatures to Guests. 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 compatible. September 2020 Edit: I see people are still downloading this... ACP - Members - Member Settings - Profiles - Profile Settings Enable Signatures, and then one of the new options is to display to guests. This plugin has not been needed at all for at least a year now, this is built in as of 4.4 I'll leave this around for now but eventually this will get culled. Obviously, this will not be available in the 4.5 ACP Marketplace, and, just as obvious, this will not be updated or supported.

  17. Hello, I found a problem: if I have the same tag on multiple forum (for example: "For Sale" in "Books", "Shoes" and "Cars") when I click on tag the system shows me all the results for that tag and not for single forum (like "For Sale" only in "Books" etc). Imho, this is unconfortable and a big issue.

  18. like a bbcode on content to link item that contain a specific tags(with counter if possible)? or put a "sub-tags" per item(topic,article... such as tags made not from author/staff)? because this could require other set of permissions like "groups that could use hashtag" per forums.

  19. The color doesn't play a role in search results as the prefix works just like any other tag. I can't think of a workaround other than to use 2 different tags with not-so-similar names.
    1 point
  20. It never ends! LOL! That's actually a bug I reported.
    1 point
  21. So with app if you have a red For Sale and a black For Sale, you click the black one and only get those results?
    1 point
  22. Yes that is the unfortunate workaround. Unique tags per forum. Too bad the system can't highlight the forum like when you do a "by forum" search. Some people may have 30 car forums, Ford, Chevy, etc. and For Sale and Wanted tags in each. Clicking one, it brings up all the cars. It's not ideal. I'd suggest posting the the feedback forum, I have too many in there .

  23. Thanks for clearing that up and now that I re-read what she wrote it all makes sense now. This wouldn't be possible without an additional 3rd party application. What you could do instead is create unique tags despite having similar names and force each tag per category so when you do click the tag it displays only relative results.
    1 point
  24. She is saying if you have the same tags in 3 forums when you click one tag, it shows the tagged content from all 3 of those forums since IPS uses global search.
    1 point
  25. Because IPS tags use global search so if you click one it shows results from all apps, all forums, etc. I am agreeing with you that this is not ideal, especially for closed system tags where you have the same tags in multiple forums or app categories, and your users expect them to show the content from that area only. This is not a fault of this app but the way tags work. You should post in the Feedback forum. EDIT: Suggestion was posted, for anyone interested:

  27. Oh I see.. A bit of miss communication. ACP -> Customization -> Templates -> forums -> topics -> postcontainer Find and delete: <li class='ipsType_light'>{lang="member_post_count" pluralize="$comment->author()->member_posts"}</li> The one above deleted the count off profiles.

  28. This is a great feature to have because you can select tags which can be restricted per category and overall it adds many, many features to your board.

  29. Don't believe everything google tells you. They flagged my adsense for showing advertisement along quote "Pornographic imagery or media" which in reality it was simply a thread titled "Twitch boobs" which was a thread dedicated to the recent changes twitch had made *at the time. Worry not and rely on your ssh logs if you're self hosted.

    Pics tab on profiles

I am just going to say it... I wish there were a tab on the user profiles called "pics" that I could click on and see enlargeable thumbnails of ALL the images a user has uploaded to the forums or gallery!

  37. Someone had an idea,a cool new concept on gaining points to spend on packages and what not. Yes, I followed the cliche trend that all of the new promotion forums have by using points to purchase packages and what not but I added a little spin on how you earn the points. Instead of posting tirelessly on the forum to gain points, you can simply add a referral link to your website! When a user clicks it, you get some points! Security features have been added. (Before anyone asks) URL Example: http://promolocus.com/refer.php?username=UserNameHere Code Example For The Tech Heads: $username = $_GET['username']; $query = "SELECT * FROM *removed* WHERE *removed*"; $stmt = $dbh->prepare($query); $stmt->bindParam("*removed*", $username, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->execute(); if($stmt->rowCount() > 0) { # We found the username... Now, who's clicked? $query = "SELECT * FROM *removed* WHERE *removed*"; $stmt = $dbh->prepare($query); $stmt->bindValue("*removed*", *removed* PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->execute(); if($stmt->rowCount() > 0) { # Code Logic blah blah } } Keep in mind it's not my code and won't fully work on IPS forums, but you get what I mean by this anyway

    Mandrill Alternatives

Just for the record, we migrated to SparkPost last night -- the whole process only took about fifteen minutes to set up, and they are now offering 100k emails per month for free in an attempt to grab Mandrill's discards.

I'm updating the app to IPS4.1, which will remove the department menus and will add the department on contact screen: For those who use it or are willing to use it, do you have any suggestion? @Fabby

    Mandrill Alternatives

Thank you so much @Lindy. Me too! The free option is a definite, because some sites do not generate any revenue, and for us small businesses, the $9.95 package is definitely more affordable than the minimum package with MailChimp. @Circo for the helpful information!

  42. It would be great if automatic bouncing could be built into IPS. I have about 10,000 members, and whenever I send a bulk email (maybe once or twice a year), I get hundreds of bounces.

  46. Reworking how profile fields work is something we are planning. For now you'll need to write your own code to obtain the data you want.

  47. That's what I thought. The old Links app somehow pulled a thumb; not unlike Mike John's Videos app. Of course I can tell my members to upload an image, but they just aren't smart enough to be able to save a logo or screen shot and upload it.
