Caaan we get a tweet button?

Look & Feel > Manage Skin Sets & Templates > Topic View > TopicViewTemplate > find - <ul class='topic_buttons'> add below <li><a href="http://twitter.com/share" class="twitter-share-button" data-count="horizontal" data-via="MyTwitterName">Tweet</a></li><script type="text/javascript" src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js"></script> (change the MyTwitterName) Example; http://thegeekdistrict.com/topic/1923-new-twitter-share-button/ I agree that it'll be nice to get an implementation similar to the like button (ooh, you can also put the twitter code next to the like button code in the topicview template) but until then, this little edit will work for me, and I'm sure others here too. EDIT To have it next to the facebook LIKE button - go to Look & Feel > Manage Skin Sets & Templates > Topic View > hookFacebookLike, > add this code <div style='float:left;'><a href="http://twitter.com/share" class="twitter-share-button" data-count="horizontal" data-via="YourTwitterUsername">Tweet</a><script type="text/javascript" src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js"></script></div> before the closing </script> tag. Note, you may need to add style='float:left;' after the <div class='facebook-like'

File Name: (RI) Nick and quote to fast reply form File Submitter: Aoyagi Ritsuka File Submitted: 13 Aug 2010 File Updated: 29 Nov 2010 File Category: Hooks and Plugins What's new is 4.0.1: customizable anchors, effects for Info button & buttons under your own avatars. This hook adds 3 additional buttons to the menu under avatar in posts: "Insert Nick" Inserts user's nickname (display name) into fast reply form. "Quote selected text" Copies selected text to fast reply form and formats it with quote tag with all appropriate parameters. If no text is selected it copies all content of current post. "Info" Toggles information blocks under avatar: shows and hides the block with custom profile fields and the warn block. This buttons is needed if you will enable the hiding of this blocks in hook settings. This hiding saves a lot of space on forums where short posts is a common deal. Hook settings (group is placed on "Hooks" tab) includes: - Enabling/disabling buttons one by one, - "Hide custom profile fields", "Hide warning block" options, - icons and altered texts customization, Click here to download this file

    Multiple forums in one?

That is all one forum, it just has several "sub forums" - we have those here at IPS as well. The Sub Forums all use a different skin template. This is possible with IPB by using the URL skin mapping.

Couldn't agree more John, competition helps everyone lift their game. I really love it, been posting a bit over there and it is super quick , I love the simplicity and clean fresh feel of it. It feels very nimble and without waste. I think they are going to do very well indeed with xenforo.

    No Super 65 hosted community?

Never mind - I went for the 175 package anyway...it's worth a try. We're probably close to that already.

    VBB Customer Looking To Jump

Another ex vb owner since early 2.x .... jumped just before 4.0 was released and to be honest I now wish I had done it sooner ..... There is very very little I cant do here that I could do with vb... Invision has much better support (in fact thats a massive understatement IMO) .. They are not ridget by the book people in respect of support. I have broken things myself before now which have been looked at even though officially it would be unsupported. ... The staff are friendly (enough said about that for VB) .. One major thing that I have found about invision above all else is that they listen to the customers ....... Lemme give you an example and you make your own judgement of whether you would see this happen on VB. Version 3.1 in production and in fact practically finished in its beta stages (baring in mind there are no RC's here and therefore it was practically RC as far as it would be in your case) .... The notification system which had been written was driving people nuts and there was a fair sized thread on how it could be improved and what could be done .. Yes there was some hesitant staff reluctant to change it as in any software, however one of the head guys basically saif "if you dont like it, it will be changed before release" (very much reworded but ya get the idea). Make the jump ... Ya wont regret it. Oh and feel free to post a list of every modification that you currently have on your installations that you will need. There are a few who have done this and you will always get a good response on here.

Facebook is not a forum. It's a social networking site. It's a totally different market.

I think that's just the excitement talking. In the cold light of day, I doubt many could switch to an unfinished product regardless of how promising it is. Early adopters are likely to be new small conmunities or Kier fans. I welcome the competition. It pushes the industry forward. We have made huge advances recently and we're not stopping yet.
