When a user is tagged in a thread, they receive an alert with a notification. However, when they click on the alert, which redirects them to the post where they were tagged, the number of notifications remains the same. After viewing the post, the notification count should decrease.

I noticed this problem, where the number of notifications should decrease as in XenForo

I don't know this script, but it seems logical. You clicked the alert, went to the topic, so you became familiar with the content you were notified about, so it should be deducted.

Where are you referring to here? In the address bar, the number is present until clicked. It would not decrease as that the number of times you have been notified (not the number of items you have been notified about that you havent visited)

It's a bit of a strange behavior in my opinion. A notification should indicate the number of notifications, but if a notification has been read and checked, it should basically disappear. After all, what's the point of notifying about something if we already know it has been checked? The user opens the notifications and sees a notification they have already checked before – it doesn’t make much sense.

Feel free to post this as feedback, but I would warn you there, its actually been changed several time on different feedback. The issue is, not everyone expects the same behaviour.
