Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted Tuesday at 04:03 AM4 days Hi,I’d like to create a separate account for someone who will be working on the design of our Invision Community site. What’s the correct way to give them access so they can:modify the site’s appearance (themes, templates, CSS/HTML, etc.),but not have full administrator access (no access to user management, security settings, or other sensitive admin functions)? What’s the best way to set this up? Thanks in advance!
Tuesday at 04:20 AM4 days Do you have a -testinstall anywhere? You could allow them to do their designing over there and then import it to your community when it's finished.
Tuesday at 05:10 AM4 days Author Thanks! How do I set up a test install? Can I just create it on my hosting with any test domain?
Tuesday at 05:28 AM4 days Author You need to first enter your license key and add -TESTINSTALL at the end — thanks, it works.
Tuesday at 07:07 AM4 days Community Expert Using a test installation for development is always a wise choice. In direct answer to your question though, you can also limit what the administrator can access. Take a look at the following guide, which shows how to create administrators and moderators. You can select "Restricted" on each when you add that user to those areas, and limit what they can see and use. For themes, for example, you can set it so they can see the theme editor on the front end by setting them up as a restricted moderator and only providing that mod function, and similarly as admin, with only the theme section
