Please consider adding HTML editing back for admins.

Here is an example of something I posted on a 4.x site. I am cleaning it up now as clearly it was cut and pasted from somewhere else. It's a mess. I know I can use the remove formatting button, but that will take away all formatting including indents and bullets.

I also have members that post from other sites, that is a pain to clean up on a 5.x site.

Thank you for considering.

There was custom CSS code that fixes this

Thanks, but I'd like it built in.

This will not happen as it has been clearly announced that the new editor does not support html mode

This is a Feedback forum, I'm allowed to make requests, I don't need you to tell me I won't get it.

Thank you for your input.

It's been discussed a few times.

That is disappointing, as I'll now need to make some of these edits through the database.

Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your reply.

I mean, you can get pretty close with the standard editor.

Thank you. when I run across these issues, I'll give the editor a try first.

I guess for me this is a huge change as I used the HTML editor a lot.

For instance, I know iframes can present a risk, but every now and then I will post something in an iframe. It seems you can only do that (in the old editor) using HTML.

Also, not all videos post well, so sometimes I need to go in and edit them.

I'll adapt (eventually).

You can set up custom iframes in the AdminCP.

CleanShot 2025-05-28 at 14.55.49@2x.png

You just need to whitelist them first as they can be a risk, and ensure that the iframe src allows the page to be included in an iframe.

You can even control who is allowed to do that.

No problem. We've recently added tables too. We will try and make sure that all the common things people did manually with HTML are manageable in some way with the built in tools.

A good 90% of the time, HTML was used to fix poor formatting or limitations with CKEditor.

That's what I used it for 90% of the time.

Me too, I used to have to use HTML mode to fix some things in our blogs. I've not had to do that in 5. 🤣

I'm sure it's operator error here but, I can't get iframes to embed.

They arent really patterns. If you take a look at the description below it, that will make more sense what you would need there. You very likely need some wildcards in there

Also make sure the frames that you want to embed are embeddable. Most sites have headers to prevent it.

Thanks.

I have *.google.com listed as an allowed domain pattern, and when I post the iframe to the editor, this is what shows up and doesn't embed.

You can’t post the full HTML snipped for an iframe as you cannot use HTML at all. You need to paste only the iframe URL and then have that converted into an embedded version of that link.

Thank you. Obviously I am not understanding some aspect, somewhere.

It’s not automatic.

After the URL was pasted, set the cursor in it and click the link symbol.

Bildschirmfoto 2025-06-10 um 13.22.32.png

If it is a recognized domain, the Create iFrame From URL button will appear (globe icon). Click that.

Afterwards, adjust the size.
