Posted May 16May 16 Hi, I'm experiencing an issue with translating certain language strings in the Admin CP.Some language keys that exist in more than one app (like forums and system) don't behave correctly when translated. For example, I searched for the key "unhidden" and found two entries: one under forums, and one under system. I tried translating both. The translation for system saved correctly, but the one for forums didn’t — it appeared to save, but when I refreshed the page or came back later, the field was empty again. The same thing happens with the key "until" — there's one in events and one in system. Again, the events translation stays, but the system one gets lost after saving. To rule out any issue with my language setup, I even created a brand new English language pack and tried again from scratch. The problem persists exactly the same way.I've attached a short video to demonstrate the issue.IPS version 4.0.7.Thanks!Video2.webm
May 16May 16 Community Expert I would very much suggest updating your site if you are still using 4.0.7, as thats now a very very old release

May 16May 16 Community Expert There should only exist the key "unhidden" under System. Is this a brand new language pack or one you upgrade from version 4?

Otherwise, we'd need to investigate.

Did you just remove files or did you uninstall the application/plugin?Was the language pack 'Italiano (IT)' created on version 5 I take it?

May 22May 22 Author @Jim M Hi,I'm writing to ask if there are any updates on this issue, as I haven't received any further replies. In the meantime, I noticed something that might be related: in the topic list filter menu, the "Unhidden" label (see attached screenshot) still appears untranslated, even though I’ve tried several times to translate it in the language pack and using quick translation tools. However, after refreshing the page, it reverts back to English.Thanks.
May 22May 22 Community Expert There being language strings present from old items is not something unusual as we don't delete data from plugins that is already present. Data is preserved in case of updates etc.Which language string is it you are trying to change? (the key you are trying to change)

(the key you are trying to change)Thanks for your reply.I'm trying to translate the key "unhidden", but as soon as I edit it and save the translation, it gets reset after refreshing the page — the value disappears and goes back to being empty. As shown in the video from the first post, this happens consistently.
May 22May 22 Community Expert Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.
