In IPS4.x, one could copy a truncated link, and paste it into the IPS editor, and when posted, the link worked.

It seems that is no longer the case with IPS5.

As an example:

On a Youtube, under the video, you often see links. Where the link is overly long, they truncate it with "..." to fill the remaining characters not shown.

Specific example:

Io Super-Eruption: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-ju...
Habitable Super Earth: https://www.iac.es/en/outreach/news/i...

With IPS 4.x, because this is a YouTube link, you would get a page asking you if you want to leave the site. Whereby you can click to leave that page and proceed to the page being linked, or go back to YouTube.

With IPS 5.x, clicking these truncated links brings one to the site in question, but you get a 404 page, not the actual page being linked. There is no redirect from YouTube there like it used to appear.

Thank you.

Are you copying the actual text or the link from YouTube? You'll want to ensure you're copying the link if you want the YouTube redirect.

Also, version 4, has formatted pasting where the formatting is kept of the place where you copied it from. This often contains HTML of the page itself. Whereas, version 5, does not have a 1:1 copy/paste.

So no more, Paste as Rich Text pasting then. I assume this goes to the new editor not having html/source capabilities.
