Of special note is the updated permission extension which allows third parties to really break things, so we hope they are careful and that you are careful about what you install as it allows apps to override the default permission system within Invision Community. 🫠

Not sure I should post this as a bug. I updated my dev install (files and dev files), but I got this when trying to export my app:

Reverted to 5.0.6 and worked fine.

Let me know if you want me to post it as a bug in the Tracker.

Nothing was changed in that area as far as I know. It looks like Windows is complaining about the temp file.

Few issues since the 5.0.7 Beta 1.

I have a subscriber group that doesn't see ads via permissions on each advertisement to their group.... Now they see Ads.

Also, a guest (spam post) could post in a forum only for registered members.

Is there any way I can revert back to 5.0.6 easily, maybe by overwriting the files, or will something go wrong from the 5.0.7 database update?

Any ideas @Matt if you are about?

Important update!

There's something funky going on with the permission extension system. We think we have a fix, but in the mean time I've reverted those changes and pushed a new release out.

If you're using Beta 1, please update to Beta 2.1 (so named because I was about to release it when we started investigating the permission issue!)

I'd expect the permission system changes will be restored tomorrow.

@Matt Can the new permission override also include the canVote check for polls? I don't think that one was included in the B1 changes. 🤔

Strangely getting issues again with Ad loads on desktop with Beta 3. A sudden amount of blank spaces with loading.

With just a basic text ad, or something generated from external like google ads?

It's Google. I raised it in another thread a while ago, but it seemed to get fixed from what I think Beta 2 of the last version (possibly the JavaScript fix)

It seems that on this Beta updated today, the issue is back. The areas are there, but it's not getting filled quickly enough and just remaining blank. It's mostly on Desktop but does affect Mobile a bit too.

My first instinct, even looking there, is that it appears to be the ads themselves that are the issue there. However I have tagged one of our developers who will take a look to see if there is anything else going on

I'm getting similar with ads loading. It's been driving me mad today so I'm glad I came here to see someone else mention it!

Also, where there are multiple ads in one placement (i.e. a couple of ads in the After First Post, or After First Topic placements) it is creating multiple blank rows.

I've checked in the settings and they are ALL set to 1 items and 1 repeats but creating multiple blank rows (and randomly rendering the ads in any of the rows) rather than rotating between the ads in the same placement:

If there are no database changes at all between the 5.0.6 and the 5.0.7 beta then in theory you can roll back by simply re uploading the 5.0.6 files imo. Otherwise you can't as it will cause issues. The only way to roll back would be to restore a copy of the 5.0.6 database as well.

On our end, nothing has really changed here; certainly not JS interaction with the ads. After investigating your communities, the delay after page load indicates a slow response from the Ad provider as the externally supplied script tags are executed immediately on page load.

Yep, I can confirm this issue and see the problematic code. We'll try to get a fix in the next couple releases 🫱‍🫲.

@James Hargreaves Are you still having issues with ad loads? Even when it's loading a few, the quality of the ad is poor, like it's falling back on some default advert!

Ads still seem to be struggling to load for me.

I've got the ad supplier (I use a Header Bidding agency) to look into it their end too and to check the fill rates.
