Hi. I've just discovered a sub-folder called “convert” in my “applications” folder. I don't remember installing such an application. Is it related to the upgrade from v4 to v5? And if so, now that the upgrade is complete, is it safe to delete this folder?

“Convert” is a default IPB application that handles converting from other software to IPB. For example if you moved from vBulletin or phpBB to IPB… that application handles rewriting any old URL from the old software format to IPB’s format, converts the user account password from the old format to the IPB format, etc.

In looking at the Applications section in IPB5, it looks to be locked so you would not be able to remove it I believe

Indeed, in the Applications section in IPB5, I have this. I guess it's related to this sub-folder called “convert”.

I can't remove it, only install even though I see no point in doing so.

Yes, thats part of the IC5 install, and should be left as it is
