Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted April 14Apr 14 Hi everyone, I've migrated my site to another host and as a consequence of this, I went from using Mysql 5.7 to Mariadb 10.11.11.I know that IPS is optimised for Mysql and not Mariadb, but as a common drop-in, has anyone used it with version 4.7.20?I went through what's available here, and apparently someone had noticed the site becoming slower after upgrading to 4.7.19 some time ago.So, I'd appreciate any feedback from someone using Mariadb with 4.7.20. Cheers!PS, I'm still using IPS 4.7.15 and it works fine (hence wondering if the upgrade to 4.7.20 is worth it?) Edited April 14Apr 14 by PPlanet
April 14Apr 14 Hi @PPlanet,I'm not using any versions you have mentioned in your post, but for the record, I'm using MariaDB Version 10.6.19 with Invision Community Version 5.0.5 with no issues. At least none that I am aware of or can notice. I wouldn't consider my community heavy in traffic compared to others that might notice it.Changing to MySQL has been on my to-do list for some time now though. 🤔 Edited April 14Apr 14 by Gary
April 14Apr 14 Community Expert There are indeed people using that version, but just be aware, they are also people that have moved away from mariadb to mysql 8 as they have seen performance issues. As you mention yourself there, we dont optimise for mariadb

My new host didn't have Mysql 5.7 and talked me into using Mariadb instead. I'm quite happy with the performance at the new server but can't put it to the change in Mysql exclusively.10 minutes ago, Marc said:There are indeed people using that version, but just be aware, they are also people that have moved away from mariadb to mysql 8 as they have seen performance issues. (Have plenty of other things to solve first though) :) Cheers
