Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted Thursday at 09:52 AM5 days Users in our community have noticed that the "mark as read" button is not working. Some forums remain marked as unread.I’ve identified the cause. When you post a message in a forum with a publication date set in the future, other users see bold text indicating there are unread posts, but they cannot view these posts. Additionally, they encounter an error when trying to browse all unread content via /discover/unread.Steps to reproduce the bug:Mark the site as read.Create a forum topic with a publication date in the future. Then create a new topic without setting a publication date.As another user, go to /discover/unread.Click on the topic created in step 3.Click 'next unread topic'. This one shouldn't be there. This bug exists in both v4 and v5. Edited Thursday at 09:54 AM5 days by VincentS
Thursday at 11:13 AM5 days Sorry, Im a little confused as to what the bug if you are reporting here. You seem to be saying you click next unread, and there isnt any, so it says there arent any unread. That would be correct
Thursday at 12:59 PM5 days Author Well, that's not exactly what I mean. If there are no topics with a future publish date this link isn't even shown. But, if there is a topic with a future publish date this link is shown and if I click on it, it shows this error page.
Thursday at 02:04 PM5 days Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.
Thursday at 04:05 PM5 days Author Thanks. Our users are also reporting related problems with marking messages as read and forums still reporting having unread (probably unpublished) posts. I'm still not able to reproduce these reports, but it could be that these reports are caused by the same problem.
8 hours ago8 hr Author I think I've found another related problem with future published discussions. When I tried to reproduce the problem our users experienced, I created some test discussions with a future publish date. After I finished my tests I deleted the discussions and now they are in the recycle bin.And now I get an notification e-mail every day with my followed items including these deleted future discussions (the 2nd and last red discussions in the screenshot below).
