Hi -

All of a sudden, I have to sign in to my forum every day now on each device I use. I didn’t change anything on the ACP - it just started happening a few weeks ago.

Am I just missing something easy?

Is this happening on the front-end? If so, make sure you're checking "Remember me" and you aren't using an incognito browser or anything else which will delete cookies.

You will need to sign in to the ACP each session.

Yup, it's on the front end - not on the ACP. I know I have to sign into that each session.

Remember Me is definitely checked. I've been doing this forum with Invision for 6 ters - this is the first time this has happened to me. All devices, too - computer, iPhone, iPad, and every day.

As mentioned, if remember me is checked, you would need to ensure that your browser is not set to clear cookies or you're using something like incognito which clears cookies after each session.

My browser is not set to clear cookies, nor am I using an incognito browser. Just Safari….and Remember Me is definitely checked.

Again, never had this problem with my forum until a few weeks ago. Only the forum is making me sign in daily, and it’s doing it on all my devices - MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad.

Just a note to support the feeling of being logged-out more frequently than in the past compared to v4 — only on my v5 forum. Both are cloud plans. As noted, IOS and Desktop.

I'm not particularly bothered as I am constantly logging in and out anyway to look at guest v. member view but I can relate to the report.

Are you using Safari as well?

If you are, if you use another browser does it still happen?

Arc (chrome based) on desktop Mac. Safari on iPad.

I just now opened a dormant Safari session on desktop and was still logged in from the last time, whenever that was. Harrumph. Not helpful :-(

Happens to me sporadically using Safari on Mac, iPad, and iPhone with my account on our site. I stay logged into this site, though. I'm not aware of any site-specific settings.

You may wish to use a common browser to see if that helps any.

IOS is pretty common 😜 I'd rather log in hourly than give up Arc. 🥰

Does toggling in/out of the Page or Theme editor boot any other sessions in a similar manner to the ACP? It would surprise me if it booted the front end. I do stay logged-in on the front end while working back and forth on whatever I'm using locally but I wouldn't really remember or correlate it to iPad on the sofa sessions later in the day.

It shouldn't. I typically do that throughout my day here with my own test instance and remain logged in no problem.

Are you using any caching on your server at all? Any new plugins or applications?

Nothing that I've changed in years.

My experience mirrors that of David. It started before upgrade to v5, oddly. I haven't heard from any other users, and probably wouldn't even if they had the same symptoms.

The only time I've seen this happen was when the cookies on the device got corrupted. I fixed it by deleting the cookies, restarting the browser, and logging in again. At that point, it was "sticky" again.

Also safari?

Yes, Safari, as I mentioned above.

Fair comment. A few different ones floating about :)

There have been some users saying only today that an update to Safari seems to have resolved some issues. Could you please check and see if you have an update there?

No update available. It's more of a curiosity than a problem, at least.

I would be more inclined to suspect that if all three of my devices hadn't developed the same issue at the same time.

ditto

If there was an issue with the cookie domain or with the data it used to write the cookie values, this absolutely can cause a problem. Do with the info what you want. It does not hurt me in any way. But I'm not sure why you would not try something that literally would take two seconds to test. If it does not work, that's fine... you lost a few moments out of your day.

For what it's worth I cleared the cookies on my desktop (Mac, Arc) earlier today and uh, have not found myself unexpectedly logged out so far today despite the usual back and forth between ipad and desktop sessions. 🤷‍♂️

Cleared cookies only for our site, only on Mac Safari. Problem gone on Mac, iPad, iPhone. Thanks for the nudge, Randy.
