Question on what the logic behind the display of topics within a forum, in a category, is?

I have noticed on occasion here that the display of topics in the Technical Problems sub is off. Whereby, threads from that sub's sub, Classic self-hosted technical help, will show out of chronological order.

I ask because my site has issues with the chronological display in just about every sub listing.

They should be in chronological order. I would need an example so I can take a look and advise

The ones you are seeing out of order there are items from a subforum. I have added a bug report for this, so it can be reviewed
