I moved albums and photos from a category in the gallery to another and it looks like the 3445 albums in the first category are now empty, but the number of albums in the target category didn't change.

Waited about an hour or so, cleaned the cache, saw the notes in dashboard about moving and reindexing.

Anyone any idea on how to solve that or what happend?

I used the move/delete part in the admin panel like this example here and put the target category in "move albums to" and in "move content to"

Now the albums in the source category are still there and empty and i assume all photos were dropped in the target category but without the albums. There were a few tens of thousands of photos in the source category and i would like to restore from this disaster.

Before I continue looking at this, if you are looking to restore it to how it was, I would advise on restoring a backup there. You mention the mass move there, but what exactly was selected?

I opended move/delete for the source category.

First line "move albums to" i entered the target category.

Last line "move content to" i entered the target category.

The "delete content" option was not checked on both lines.

Hit "continue".

Looked at the dashboard where the background processes were shown and looked like they should - as fast as i assumed.

After those finished i looked at an empty source category with no photos, but still all albums - now empty - in there; and at a target category which now had the photos transfered to it, but not the albums.

Better to understand that way?

Regarding the restoring from backup - is it possible to restore only the gallery or the two categories or do i have to restore the whole site?

So i assume there could be a problem with some indexes?

If you have missing items, then you would need to revert all in order to get things back, if you want to resolve right away. If not, I can create a ticket and get this escalated for you, but you should still be prepared to revert if needed. Please let me know which way you wish to go. If the latter please ensure all access details are on file including FTP in advance, and I can get one created for you
