Hot topics was removed quite some time ago, when trending was added. Thats not a 5.x thing

Yeah and I can see its a cloud feature, and should be in the lowest price point considering its a feature that everyone should have. How its made it into the 3rd tier is incredible

And does it not even indicate the topic is hot by turning the replies orange? It doesn't from what I see, so all it is is a widget that has replaced the popular now widget, really poor.

The trending feature is more than just a 'hot topics' replacement. It uses multiple data points to generate a list of trending data that can be used in a widget, or via the leaderboard. We plan to expand it post 5.0.0 for better content discovery.

Most forum users will only interested in what current topics are busy in terms of posts. You need to add the popular highlight back to busy topics, my forum likes this feature and often comment on it. Trending content widget doesn't stand out and I didn't even know it existed until this topic

It still works on my site as of version 4.7.20. Upgrading to v5 will completely remove the feature? and we have nothing to replace it? (Self-hosted) Since "Trending content" is cloud only.

They changed 'hot' to 'popular' on cloud hosting in v4, now in v5 it don't exist

could you not do a normal topic blocks with it configured to show the most viewed or most commented topics in say the last 7 days?

how do you add blocks now it doesn't have the side block option on the main page in test version 5
