Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 12Feb 12 Hello everybody, I need to upgrade my IPS from 4.5.4.2 to latest available version which is now 4.7.20 but when I tried to do this using automatic way via Admin Panel I was told that I'm using old PHP version (7.4.33) and I need to switch to at least 8.0.0. So I did this on the settings via Hosting Panel - actually I switched to 8.4, 8.2, 8.0 but all the time when I did this the page became unavailable. Question is what I need to do to proceed forward ? Do you have any procedure step by step what to do ? Thanks in advance, Pawel
February 12Feb 12 You would need to upgrade manually, so upload a fresh set of files from your client area, then run the upgrade from /admin/upgrade
February 12Feb 12 Author Hey, thanks for your prompt response. However before I proceed with manual upgrade I need to confirm step-by-step what to do. So my understanding is: |1. Switch PHP to 8.x from my Hosting Panel 2. Upload latest version of IPS 4.7.20 and move all extracted files to my forum main directory like ~/public_html 3. Open from the browser upgrade page like mypage.com/admin/upgrade & login using my AdminCP credentials then proceed with an upgrade Is that correct procedure ?

Newer versions of PHP are only supported on v5.Make sure you have a current backup before proceeding!
February 12Feb 12 Author Hello, Upgrade went good w/o any error messages however when I open a page as regular user I receive some errors like this: [[Template core/front/global/userPhoto is throwing an error. This theme may be out of date. Run the support tool in the AdminCP to restore the default theme.]]I'm trying to find this support tool in new version but it seems something has changed and it doesn't look as it was before. Any advice what can I do ?
February 13Feb 13 Author Hey, I've fixed this issue I reported in my previous message - it was connected to some plugin which is not supported anymore. Anyway, as I was away for a while with updates, new versions, Invision community, etc. I realised that MarketPlace is gone away so the question I have is: do we have a place where we can download plugins, additions, applications etc to improve our IPS platform ?
February 13Feb 13 Your site appears to be on version 4 at present. Have you since reverted this? We need to really see the system logs related to that error in order to be able to advise

By clicking on their profiles you can see the sites.

We need to really see the system logs related to that error in order to be able to adviseI have upgraded to 4.7.20 and now I'm on this version. The mentioned plugin (taken some time from Marketplace) was working OK on 4.5.4.2 version but stopped to work on 4.7.20 - anyway, I've disabled it completely and it's fine now. I will try to check if developer has newer version to update.
