Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 11Feb 11 Hello. I will appreciate if someone can help with this. Members are reporting often getting error messages when clicking links. Here is one example of the error when requesting a valid url
February 11Feb 11 Im not seeing any issues at all on this end when visiting that URL. Are you seeing the issue yourself also?
February 11Feb 11 Author I did not get any error message when visiting that url, but the member clearly got that mysterious error message.

Is there anything logged in at either the Suystem Logs at your Acp or the Server Error logs? Was there any modifications made to either the forum or server prior to that error happening?
February 11Feb 11 Author It is a cloud installation so I am limited to the logs that invision admin panel provides and there I don't see anything related to this.DNS, ssl are managed too. No modifications were made before the error. I know know of one member who reported this, but it happened multiple times to them and in different urls.14 minutes ago, bskdisplay said:Have you checked your DNS or SSL settings? Because for me the page is inaccessibleDo you have the correct url? interesting.
February 11Feb 11 Not something I can reproduce either here. If you have information on their device, we can take a further look.
February 11Feb 11 What browser are they using for example. It might be that the issue is local to a certain browser.
February 11Feb 11 Author the screenshot is a mobile safari I can see. No, my safari on mobile does not have that issue.

February 12Feb 12 Author Here is the information for the member: Safari 16.6 on Apple iPhone (iOS 16.6.1)

Would have them go through the whole upgrade iOS (if they can), clear cookies/cache to see if that helps. If that still renders not helping, I can tag a developer to see if they have any insight but it could just be the device is aging.
February 27Feb 27 I've had a member report this issue today. They are using a MacBook - safari 16.5.No extensions running in the browser.I have asked them to update their OS and browser and to report back. Edited February 27Feb 27 by Mick79
February 27Feb 27 You need to t check what is redirecting there. Check your htaccess to ensure you dont have anything in there other than our default, for example. Also, re you able to replicate it yourself? It is worth being aware that Safari itself has been a little shaky of late too, unfortunately. So its possible its not actually your end
March 4Mar 4 I have had 2 members report this now as well. One on iPhone and iPad, another just their iPhone. One says it’s been happening since the upgrade, another says since Friday.SafariiOS 16.7.10No extensions installedCan’t replicate it myself either. Ran them through the Clear History and Data, still the same.
March 4Mar 4 Seems to be a common issue on iphones lately. Have you tried any of these?https://iboysoft.com/howto/a-problem-repeatedly-occurred.html
March 5Mar 5 Could you check, would these people see ads? Do you have anything else that is running on the site in terms of 3rd party?

I’ve just had another say no issues and he is a subscriber so won’t see adverts.I’ve fired off an email to the ad provider to investigate any possible issue their end that could be causing this. Will update when I hear back. It’s an American company so will be a delay with time zone.

March 5Mar 5 Would recommend disabling all customizations for these individuals and have them test again. If it works, add them in one-by-one to see what is happening.

I upgraded from 5.0.2 to 5.0.3 last Thursday and the problems started from the Friday.

Removing this for the user to test should be straight forward and help us determine next steps.
