Bulkmail via smtp - How to limit

Hallo,

 

last week I started a bulkmail with rd. 30,000 Mails which completed in about 45 minutes.
This is about 666 mails/minute - which stressed the server and is far too much for the algorithm of the mail providers. They classified my server as a spam sending machine 😞

What can I do to restrict the send rate of outgoing bulkmail?

This can be set with the BULK_MAILS_PER_CYCLE constant
