I have a 3.4 Database that I've been wanting to upgrade, but I was informed that there's no direct upgrade path to 4.0. Currently, I have almost nine years of content that is relevant to my community.

I can't speak for the entire dev community but I, and I imagine nearly all the regulars, have a large archive of INVCOM versions going waaaay back. Tag someone to help; paid work of course.

You'll have a dance of upgrading to 4.2 (that's where I would start), and then 4.5, then you'll need to make server adjustments for PHP requirements, possibly before the 4.5 upgrade, then you'll be clear.

 A slog, but a small one.

Yep. I have a huge archive of all old versions, going back to version 1.3.1 (the last free version).

Recently I did a 4-step upgrade from a really old version: 2.3.6 => 3.4.9 => 4.7.3 => 4.7.18 😅

Do you have Screenshots from old versions. I want to see history of IPS Forums.

Nope, while I do have the archives, I don't have each version installed locally.

However, if you search around, you'll find some old screenshots or even sites still using those old versions.

Ahh sorry.

I confused it with 4.7.30

For a moment I confused 4.0.17 with 4.0.1.7 😅

There was a nice comment thread with screenshots here:

But comments have been disabled so those 60 responses are not accessible. You can see the initial first version screens there though. There have been other threads here and there that popped up talking about the old days but you'll have to search for those yourself.

Honestly, just google for various INVCOM versions and look at the pic; probably the easiest way forward.

I was going to reference that blog post too, @All Astronauts.

Oh, the nostalgia! That's where my love for forums and Invision Community (then IB/IPB) started! 🥰

Best thing about v5 is that those days will get better and will continue for many years to come!

I can confirm the final release will not be upgradable from 3.x. You would need to go from 3.x to 4 (probably an earlier version), then to the latest release, then to 5.
