Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted August 13, 20231 yr I have had "products" for purchasing member badges and extra abilities as a member for a long time now. Probably when products first were a thing. I just noticed that in March 2023 products will be deprecated (see below). Question 1: I plan on moving to the cloud towards the end of the year -- probably in the Nov/Dec time frame. I have not set this up yet but will soon. With that said, do I need to do something before that with converting 3 "products" per forum (only 2 forums) to subscriptions before that? Question 2: I am retiring from running my forums and want to transfer things for both to a new owner at the time transferring 2 forums to the cloud with him paying the monthly charges for both of course after the transfer going forward. I am not sure how best to do that and I assume it's possible to do. Just planning in advance. 🙂 Thanks! Commerce Physical Products ANNOUNCED March 2023 REMOVAL Invision Community 5 We want Commerce to be a solution to monetising multiple areas of your community with micro-payments and subscriptions. Our focus will be on that area and physical product sales have now been deprecated and are much better handled by specialist services such as Shopify. We will work with you to help migrate your data. Please contact us if you'd like to learn more about migrating physical product data to another service.
August 14, 20231 yr Community Expert From what you have described here, it doesn't sound like you are using physical products. By this, I mean items you are physically sending out. If you arent, then you would not be affected by this. In terms of the cloud moves, you would be best to contact our sales team by selecting contact us and clicking sales here https://invisioncommunity.com/contact-us If you need more clarification on the commerce parts, please let me know of course.
August 14, 20231 yr Author I have this: Purchasing ember badges and extra abilities as a member for a long time now. Back in the old days, there were no subscriptions. So, I had to put it under products as it was known for extra priv's for members and special badges. They are still under products today. Hence, one of my questions. Does what you state still apply?
August 14, 20231 yr Community Expert Products are not going away. PHYSICAL products are going away. You haven’t clarified what you are selling. There are physical “badges” and there are digital “badges”.
August 14, 20231 yr Author Sorry about that, digital badges under their username. 🙂 And, just adding in extra forum abilities such as more PM space.

September 22, 20231 yr Author So, I am moving to a cloud solution soon with Invision. I saw this under my "products" which are just subscriptions because there was no subscription feature back in the day when I created these. Is this going to be a problem? See the screen shot. I see that red text.
