How do I get Downloads categories to show content from child categories?

Hi,

I have a category of Downloads which is just a category with several sub-categories containing various files. The sidebar widget shows them correctly, but when I navigate to the parent category, it says "No files in this category yet."

 

I noticed it does this here in the Marketplace for example in Themes, but not on my own site?

Unfortunately, there is not a way for this to happen in the core software. Please feel free to submit a Feature Suggestion for further evaluation in a future release.

There’s a plugin to accomplish this: 

Not perfect but better than the current layout.

Thank you, apparently it’s been a long awaited request.
