I'm making a serious decision to consider closing my forums, just a few days before my subs are due.

Will the forums still be operational if I don't pay the amount when it's due.

Can I put a hold on the payment, to ensure it's not taken until the decision is made very shortly?

Yes, they would remain operational as a self hosted platform. Only IPS services would become unavailable to to you. So for example, support, upgrades, the spam service etc.

    Actually I've taken the card off for now. Hopefully that will do it, whilst I manage a controlled exit and final decision.

    If you have removed your card on file, then indeed it wouldnt be taken as there is no payment method. The invoice itself will be generated, and you will be informed its present if you wish to pay it
