Gif upload

Hello im getting this error 
(Error code: list length exceeds limit `/tmp/imagickxq8NTM' @ error/cache.c/OpenPixelCache/3695)
when i try to upload a gif to the profile picture

I've seen this error a lot with ImageMagick lately. It seems a recent version has broken (?) the code that handles GIF images.

You can either ask your hosting to go back to a previous ImageMagick or switch the image setting in ACP to GD instead.

I was seeing this on a few peoples sites whos server had updated imagemagick a few months ago, but havent seen many lately, so Im wondering if there was a subsequent update that resolved the issue.
