I have some categories that say there are 6 articles, when there are actually 9. Is there a way to reset the count, or make the system rebuild the article counts in categories?

There is no way in which to recount, as they should be showing exactly what is in there. I would need an example of this in order to advise accordingly

I see only six: 

 

That is the item count of articles currently available to view within that area. 3 of the ones you can see yourself are not visible to anyone else as they are scheduled and not yet published
