So I made my first "Alert" notice but I wouldn't know because as the author it doesn't seem to display for me. Just asked a moderator to check he hadn't seen it either. When I go to look at the alert it shows this but I can see users have logged in after I created it seems not to be publishing to any one, even though I selected all groups.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.

Looking at the commit for this, it should be, yes

You would then have to await the release unfortunately.

Ok still not getting the proper experience.

Just created a new one asked a moderator to log in he said he sees nothing.

Permissions issue?

  • Author

From what I can tell there are no permissions for for ignoring Alert system. As Admin I created one for mods and admins I didn't get any notice for me and the mod logged in they got nothing still shows as not viewed.

Users shouldn't have to log out and log in to receive an alert?

They should not have to log out, no. Please could you let me know which alert on your system, and I can then take a look, and escalate if needed

Are you still seeing issues on this @Ocean West ? This should actually now be resolved, so will need to open a separate report if you are still seeing problems. From what you described there, it doesnt actually sound like the same problem

It seems the author doesn't get included in the alert but it my moderators confirmed they've seen the alert.

Sorry, its not clear from what you have said there if you have any issues. That sounds to be working correctly

There must be something wrong - as this is inconsistent

Set one to go off at 10 am I never see it, it's sent to all groups.

FYI - The author of an alert will never see it.

Check with a different account

As mentioned by Nathan, have you checked this under another account?

Can we see here Alert System  and why author of an alert will never see it?

We have the Alert system active on our site, yes, but I think we've only tested it and not had a real use for it just yet.

The author of the alert doesn't see it again because they are the one who created it. They already know what it contains. 🙂

yes I logged into another account, I did see it. A moderator said he did see it with out signing out.

However it still shows as not viewed yet

I also sent it anonymous so I figured I would see it as it wouldn't know I sent it.

Nope.  It's still known who sent it even if it's anonymous.  You may be anonymous to the public, but the software knows...  the software always knows!  🙂

My mod team reports alerts are not being seen if an end date is set, even if the end date is in the future. Changing the end date to None allows the alert to display correctly.

This describes an issue that's different than the rest of this topic, and one that needs confirming.

I've created a ticket from your post. Someone will be in contact with you via that ticket.

NOTE: I've split your post to a new topic since this does appear to be a bug under the conditions you mention.

https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/468302-alerts-fail-to-display-if-end-date-is-set/

Someone will reply to the ticket created for this.

So I had an end date too I asked others if they seen it, doesn't seem so.

There is an open issue on the other topic there 🙂
