I have tried different photos and everything but sometimes the banner disappears and it is just a plain grey background. I am not sure if this is a common problem but I just think it's odd. Either the photo is gone when I go in the ACP or it still shows the preview but says 0 B.

When 0 byte happens with an attachment, it generally means that the storage failed on the server. Are you out of disk space or did anything recently happen on your server that may cause an image to be removed?

I am not sure but I will look into it. it doesn't happen enough to be that annoying (like once every 2-3 weeks) I just think it's odd.

Makes it sound even more like a storage issue. I would check with your hosting provider, they may be doing something at these intervals which is creating issues.
