Is the invision community app available to use for our forums?

The mobile application, if thats what you are referring to, was discontinued quite some time ago

I was replying to my previous post here from mobile

Then I got an alert: do you want to download invision community?

I accepted and got a mobile app ( or I think it is an app)

I am using it now to reply

That is a Progressive Web App (PWA), not a native mobile application. The native mobile application was discontinued in favor of PWA.

Can I add this PWA to my forum ? and how to show a similar alert to mobile users to download this PWA?

Yes, you would simply setup your web manifest by going to ACP -> Customization -> Icons & Logos -> Configure manifest details. Once you have configured that it is recommended to apply the icons above so that users have those available to them on their phones.

The alert is from the browser, not our software. This meaning some browsers/devices will alert you that it is possible to download (i.e. Google Chrome on latest Android) whereas others will not.

I did follow the above steps

but did not get a similar alerts when i browsed my site using the mobile

i did get the download alert for Invision community using the same mobile device and chrome browser

 

Did you already setup the PWA on your device? I am seeing that it is available on your community in my browser.

But long time back I used the shortcut "Add to home screen" but not similar to what happened when I was  browsing the invision community

This would indeed be PWA so you would not receive a prompt about it.
